28" tire..What fits???

I'm looking to get a 28" tire to mount on my 15x8 5.5 BS pro stars. I currently run MT ET Street drag radials. The lips are rolled and the inner wells are clearanced to fit this tire.

I want a tire that is going to bite. Its a stick car. The DR's are hit and miss.
I was looking at the Hoosier QTP 28" but recently read on here they run to big and rub.
The MT ET streets run a tad small and I dont know anyone who run them.

I don't have experience with anything other then a MT and Nitto DR 275-60

Worse case I'll try these again they worked ok on my last car which has similiar suspension.

Let me know what you guys are running and what fits?

28-9 MT ET Drag. Very close in size to 275-60. Just a touch smaller.

I also run the 28x9 et drag. Tire hooks hard and it's very consistent. Didn't have to modify inner or outer fenders with a 15x8" 5.5" backspace either.

Thanks guys seems like the slicks are always a sure win.

How well does a ET street hook 28x11.50? are they like the MT Drag Radials?

They hook up better than the drag radials.

I liked my ET streets untill i put the Hoosiers on my car. They hook alot better but run larger as mentioned. Next time I will use the 27x10.5 Hoosiers, they should work perfect for my combo.

That would be my suggestion since they stick better than a drag radial. If you don't need it to be street legal, a true slick is the best way to go.

My car is a auto and I've had 28x12.50 et streets and mt et street radials 275-60's. The drag radial had a 1.43 60' and the et street had a 1.45. If yours is a 5 speed and you dont care about a improper equipment ticket I'd go with the slick. 28x9 would work well

its going to be basically for 2 track rentals i have coming up. Ill keep the drag radials for the street use.

I just thought the Et streets maybe a lil easier on the car and less wobble being it has a DOT rating on em.

Being there is no local track around here its a expensive day to the track just getting there racing and coming home. So its not often i get to go there.

I just hope i make it thru 2 rentals lol.

ET Streets hook almost as good as a true slick in my case. 425 rwhp(nitrous) on a stick, 3300lbs. 4500 rpm dump.

1.49 60 foot on 28x9 slicks.

1.58 on 26x11.5 ET Streets.

I just found it a pain in the butt to have to change over to slicks after I drove to the track.

Do you have to have a street legal tire?

I have never had my car move around on slicks. I run higher psi than most.

no i don't have to have a DOT tire although It would be nice. The track event im going to is a rental I can run whatever i want its for pure fun and personal achievement.

The search button on this site as well as 4 others i tried all bring back horror stories and confusion.

Since it's just for the track, I would definitely go with the slick. They will out hook the D.O.T.'s probably 99% of the time. I noticed a huge difference when I borrowed a friend's ET Drags over my ET Streets and ET Street Radials. Also, the car was more stable on the slicks than the ET Streets for some reason, which is strange because MT claims the ET Street has a stiffer sidewall. The slicks seemed to go straight as an arrow though.

I've run 28x11.50 ET Streets, 28x9 ET drags and now 28x10.5 ET Drags. As well as Nitto and BFG 275/50 drag radials and M/T 325/50/15 drag radials. Oh yeah, also tried a set of Hoosier 26x10.5 on a 10" wheel.
Let see if I can remember the sixty foots on each of these tires, only thing is they were with different engine combos:
275/50 BFG and Nitto Drag radials, both went 1.57 sixty foots with 347ci on motor and 3200 stall
ET Streets went 1.48 sixty, 15x8 wheel with 347 on 100 shot
28x9 ET Drag went 1.45 on 347 150 shot, 15x8 wheel and 408 on motor
26x10.5 Hoosier Drag went 1.45 on 347, 15x10 wheel with 150 shot
28x10.5 ET Drag on 15x8 wheel went 1.43 sixty on 427 on motor
325/50/15 MT Drag radial went 1.44 on 15x10 wheel 427 on motor

Hope all that helps.
As far as tire pressure goes, the only one that liked more than 11.5-13.5 psi pressure was the MT Drag radial, and it liked 16 psi.

I had a blast with the ET Streets this Friday. I didnt beat my best 60ft that I had with the nittos (1.78 -- I have a stock stalled Auto), but I only ran that once on the nittos. Everything else was 1.9 or higher. Friday all my 60fts were 1.80 to 1.83, and I ended up running about a tenth quicker than my fastest time before. I would recommend these tires to anyone over Nittos.

MT ET Street radials are hooking pretty good. There are 3-4 tracks around here that run a 275/50-60 class. The best 60fts I've seen are in the 1.28-1.32 range.

That is very nice man but thats not a drag radial. I was like wow 1.20's on a Drag radial would be insane.

Those are slicks you ran which is still a sick pass.

No, they are mostly PG cars but none the less MT's ET Street radials HOOK!
