Congrats John, about time someone took away JPCs fire, if only for one race....As far as having a stock short block...Not gonna happen. These guys have THOUSANDS of dollars in lightweight rotating assemblys... How else can they run what they run without purpose built engines and valve work. A stock short block would be lucky to run in the 12.2-12.5 range in this class...

Agreed, the fastest guys usually have hours and work into the bottom end. Our old GT40P set up car had a stock bottom end and went very low 12s at 111-112 mph. The difference between a 12.0 @ 112 and an 11.2 @ 118 is HUGE. Hats off to those guys for getting it done, and congrats on the win!!!

Jay Allen ran high 100 teens with a stock bottom end just rebuilt with iron gt-40 heads that had been converted to stud mount rockers.
Stock crank,rods,pistons from a gt-40 engine.

EDIT didn't see the original part about being in the f/s class.

Can you talk about what tire pressure and suspension settings you use?

I've been struggling with my 60fts (1.6 vs 1.8) after switching from a King Cobra clutch to an ACT clutch (ceramic disc) and going from 275/60/15 to 275/50/15 MT ET Street Radials.

I'm not saying the factory stock guys are not running light weight parts, but it has been done on stock rotating assemblies.

What in high 100 teens? Be alittle more descriptive on the mods to said car because a stock bottom end is light but I can bet you the car would run quite that quick if it was completely under factory stock rules

Again hats off to the original poster.

there is obviously alot you dont know about that car. a lot of the stuff done to that car would never fly in actual factory stock racing. you are comparing apples and oranges here

My apologies i didn't see the "in this class" part in goofy's post

I did not mean to compare Jay's car to a f/s car. I thought it was stated that a stock HO shortblock wouldn't go faster than 12.2-12.5 period.
