Got my little N/a street car to the track...11.30 @ 126 on a radial!

60'- 1.75 (spun a bit)
1/8 - 7.35 @ 97.5
1/4 - 11.30 @ 125.5

Pump gas 418 windsor, Ed Curtis prepped AFR205's and victor Jr, Bigs 950, 1 3/4 mid length accufab headers, full 3" exhaust (including thrush chambered mufflers LOL).
Tremec TKO600
4.10's with a 275/60 M&H drag radial

6 passes so far, 4 of which were aborted for various reasons. The above was pass #5, and #6 yielded about the same times.

Still untuned, and no tweaking done yet....I need to work the suspension better, dial it in, and figure out where to shift it...but it's a good start!

I launched at 4K, shifted at 6,200, went thru the traps at 6,300.

Little Video from the last 2 passes:

1984 GT, 363 -RHS215 heads & Super Vic intake by MCRP, FTI cam, Carbureted, Glide, 4.30's, pump gas, street legal, N/A

Nice numbers, video, and absolutely beautiful car!

Do you think the drivetrain & DRs could hold a little more RPM? What tire pressure were you running?

With my old 5-speed setup, I launched at 3500 on DRs and 5500 on slicks.
A whole lot less power and I went a best of 1.64

Trim a tenth or more off your 60 and 10.99 will become very capable. Congrats!

Thats an easy 10 second car, what kind of suspension do you have? Heck with half a decent suspension you should be able to cut some 1.4? sixtys.

I have a ton of suspension in the car...just can't find a sweet spot on the drag radials, and I'm not ready for slicks...yet.

Rear is an 8.8 with 31's, 9" housing ends, Cobra T-lock, 4.10's...all welded up.
Uppers are baseline street launch, lowers are UMI adjustables

Front is:
team Z k-member, a-arms, coil overs with 12-170 springs.
Strange 10 ways all the way around.

Launch was 15 psi, 4K...and it spun a bit. At 3500 it just bogged. This weekend we're going to Maple grove for the NMRA....I'm hoping for better traction. I'm going to try a little less air pressure and 4K launch...and hope for little to no spin.

It's frustrating, as I went 1.59 60' with this motor in my old car with a 255/60 MT drag radial....with less suspension! That motor had a different intake on it and made more torque. The new setup is making more power albeit in higher RPMS. (old best trap speed was 123.5 in GREAT 50* air. Now I'm going 125.5 in 80* air)
If I can get this to 60' around 1.60...it should run a 10.

I want to get a cage in the car and add braces to the rear before I put slicks on it....everyone tells me that Drag Radials + Stick Shift = difficulty! And they are right!

Try pulling some PSI out of the tires. Or have you done that already?

Started at 18 psi...went to 15 and it got better. This weekend I'm going to try 12-13 and see if it likes that better yet.

Nice ride! I'm looking at doing the same with my '85 LX coupe. Right now a 357 Windsor, with TKO-600 and 9 inch Ford rear.
What brand/type clutch are you running and is your TKO-600 hard going into 3rd gear at high RPM or powershift?

Thanks again everyone for the kind words!

Mus408, I use a Ram clutch it's the 300/900 "powergrip" NOT the HD.
The TKO shifts 1-2 and 2-3 OK (not great but OK)...funny thing is that I have to really muscle it into 4th.

I haven't been over about 6,400 on the shifts though.....

Thanks Tim! I really wasn't planning on turning much past that 6,400-6,500 area.

I still need to find the sweet spot....it's not cammed very big, so I know I won't be going past 6,500 with it.

Beautiful coupe. It's just tough on a dr with a stick car that shocks the tires so much. Even with a bias ply ET Street it'd do a lot better.

You think thats difficult, try a 4.56 gear + TKO500 Stickshift + real treaded street tires like i did last nite.. 12.07 after 2 hours of dialing it in.. She should go 11's now that ive worked out the bugs & screwed the tires to the rims.

Ran the car at the NMCA True street this past weekend...

Still can't get it to hook, but EVERYONE there was having traction troubles.

They only ran 1/8 mile and I ran a string of 7.35's to 7.40's at 97mph. With spinning 1.75 to 1.80 60's....Made the 30 mile cruise no problem though!

I'm going to put the 14/150's back on the front and screw around with the radials for the summer...but this fall when the air gets better I'm putting real tires on it.

I saw your car in the pits at Maple Grove....car looked amazing. You're def right about everyone having traction problems. Seemed like everyone was blowing the tires off. One of my friend's cars in true street blew the tires off for about 150 ft. LOL
