seat belts, roll cage, 13 second car???

My 1992 mustang is a typical low 13 bolt-on car. At one time though, a previous owner intended to run quicker than 11.50's. It has very nicely done 8 point cage. My question is, since it only runs 13's, do I have to have a 5 point harness? When the tech guys at my track see my tech card and that I don't even need a cage, they don't even look at my harness. I would like to put stock belts back in it if I can still pass tech.

They won't say anything. Just let them know what you are going to be running. The NHRA rule book says nothing about needing a 5pt whenever a cage is installed.

if you have stock seats you can run the stock seat belts no problem...now if you got aftermarket ones like a kirkley you have to have a 5 point harness
