Stick Guys!! Simple Questions

What RPM are you launching at? What is your tranny and clutch setup? Finally 60ft and quarter times.

I am sure that quesions varries from setup, tune, suspension.....yada, yada, yada.

I have had problems off the line this first season of racing. Pain in the butt and getting old. The best 60' time I could muster is in the range of 2.0 to 2.2.

I actually just came back from the track a few min ago and did the same thing all night long. Best e.t. tonight was [email protected] and the last time before that was [email protected]

I am not using a 2 step or anything, just my right and left foot. I am not power shifting either.

I can hook the best if I launch betwen 1500 and 2000 rpm but softly, like leaving from a stop light but at higher rpms. Also, not mashing the gas in 1st. Probably a little bit over half way down the throttle. If I mash it down, I might as well put street tire on because it just blows all of 1st and beggining of 2nd.

My set up is 331, turbo, tko, MC Cloud twin disc (The clutch is awesome grips 1000%). I also have 3.08's in the rear. Car put down 510rwhp(street tune). I am only running 12lbs of boost. My race tune is useless at this rate, 20lbs of boost and 700+rwhp. I can't hook on 500, I don't think 200 more would help anything (never tried it though).

I am planning to go auto by the winter.

By the way, I am also running 275/40/17's MT Drag Radials.

Sorry for the long post and Good Luck!

Well, I run a Tremec TKOII, slipping the clutch(feathering it, bringing it straight up at a gentle pace), off the 2-step and line lock at 5000rpm. Best 60ft to date 1.51 on a 275/50/15 BFG in a Factory Stock car.

3500 rpm on the 2-step slipping the clutch and bogging (MT 235 65 15 street radials)! I need to learn how to launch with the new tires for sure. I'm running a 3550 & a custom clutch with the 2.0 60's and the times in my sig. Needless to say I'm running a tad slower than I should be.

With the 3.55s - 6250 RPM and 1.62 60'
With the 4.10s - 6250 RPM and 1.59 60'

To be honest, the rev limiter is not the most consistent launch point. I have been much more consistent (1.61-1.66 on all 11 passes last time out) with the 2-step.

Best ET to date is 12.17 @ 110

13.74 @ 99.3
1986 Blue GT

Son, it's like lightning when I shift this car.

Unless it's a big race and all the pressure is on. Then it's gonna find the high side chip trying for high gear.

4000 rpm on the 2 step (12#s of boost), Tremec 3550 with a Spec stage 3, 3.55s with 28 X 10.5 slicks, 1.51 60', 11.05 @ 127 mph with the clutch slipping when I grabbed 3rd and 4th. I tried launching at a higher rpm with more boost, but the clutch couldn't hold it.

my first mustang i had was a 86 coupe it had some little cam. the guy i got it from did not remember but it was a speed density car so it would not run with a big cam in it. it had 3:73 gears, stock t 5, hurst 5 speed shifter. the car had all stock exhaust but i knock the cat out. i ran the timing @17 and had the tps set at .999. i had pulled the stock air box out of the fender. its best 60 foot was a 1.50 ran a [email protected] 104. i did a ford racing drive shaft and it did a 1.48 @106 mph. this was on some bfg's street tires.
