Here is the class 12.50 index running on a Pro .400 tree. (NHRA Rules)

Lets say the qualifying went like this.

#1 12.54 Car #1
#2 12.56 Car #6
#3 12.58 Car#28
#4 12.49 car #16
#5 12.39 car#10

Does car #1 get the automatic bye in both style ladders for the first round?

If there are 3 rounds or 2 rounds of qualifying do they average the qualifying passes for both style ladders?

Does reaction time play into anything for both ladders?

Yes please spell this one out and do a second round if you like with both style ladders.

For simplicity lets say that the above #'s are the only round of qualifying...How would the pairing go down in the first round of eliminations with both style ladders?

I think this might be what you are looking for. Replace the smiley with the dot-com internet extension.

Thank You now things are making sense. It looks like we are using the the sportsman ladder in Street Intimidator.

For those of you in the midwest who are looking to race check out the imsmracingseries.com web site.
Lots of classes and competition and a $$$.00 to be had for your efforts.
next race 9/7/08 sunday @ Byron Dragway in Byron, Illinois. Qualifying starts @ 10-11 am.

The pro ladder is the easy one 1st qualifier races last and 2nd races 2nd to last qualifier and so on and so on.

The sportsman is alittle different. Can't explain it but saw it on raceamerica.com just type ladders in the search box on this site click drag racing and there they are. Thanks Mark. See Ya on Sunday

I will also check out the IMSM link too and thank you runum50.

The idea of the sportsman ladder is to provide better racing for the fans. The ladder is split in half and the top car in each half races each other. Then 2nd best from each half race etc... I prefer the pro ladder, easier to understand and truly rewards a good qualifying effort. Besides, it's not like the stands are full with spectators at small local events.

This plot thickens. I got the whole sportsman ladder pairing thing but after the first round how is lane choice decided. Again 12.50 index 2nd round does lane choice go back to qualifying or does it go back to the first round with who was closest to the 12.50 index gets the lane choice? Help!!!!!

Lane choice is usually up to the race series coordinator on how it is decided.

In FFW we've done better qualifier, best ET from the previous round and on a coin flip.

Some serious like NMRA in Open Comp uses reaction time.

Best bet is to ask the racing coordinator how lane chance is decided.
