MSD Advance Lockout

Just was wondering if anyone here locks the timing on distribters or just leave it alone? Friend of mine says I would be better off locking mine and if you do lock it at what degree are you setting it.
The car is 100% strip only

thanks

I run mine locked at 30 right now. I am blown so I pull timing with my Digital 7. I can set it higher (42) if need be to help with my cruise as I can pull timing with vac and boost using my box.
