Quad shocks?

who is still running quad shocks and what's your setup?

i'm just curious. i recently bought an lx without quads and there seems to be some side to side slosh in the back. i have room to put them back on without complications but i'll have to buy some new ones.

if u have aftermarket lowers, quads are not needed. side 2 side shimmy may b caused by weak, worn (stock) uppers &/or worn upper control arm bushings in differential housing.

also, quads are designed to control axle "wrap-up". they help to control the differential housing from twisting on its axis during acceleration.

yeah, the uppers are stock but they are soon to be replaced with steeda adjustables. the lowers are steeda weight jackers.
thanks for the information. i think i'll try it without the quads once all the mods are complete

Do you still have the rear sway bar?

Some people have issues with wheel hop if they try to run without the quad shocks….regardless of the control arm’s they use. IMHO, they amount to very little weight loss by removing them….so keeping them on (or adding them) would be the way to go.

I don't know of many people running the quad shocks. They are a band aid to help compensate for the soft rubber bushings that allow wheel hop. Good uppers and lowers eliminate the need for them.

That greatly depends on what your intentions are. If you care about suspension bind when turning a corner, the use of poly or spherical bushing on the upper control arms will bind the rear end inducing snap over steer. It’s for this reason many of us choose to use the heavy duty ford racing uppers with stiffer rubber bushings along with a good set of lowers with some poly and/or spherical bushings along with the stock quads.

BTW, I’ve still heard from people that put on upper/lower control arms with poly/spherical bushings that still had wheel hop (when using certain tires) without the quads.
