ET Streets in back and Radials in Front OK?

As taken from MT website:
CAUTION: It is not recommended that radial and non-radial tires be mixed on the same vehicle..

I run ET Streets in back w/ 17" Radials up front. It does get squirrelly in the top end (118-120mph).

Is this why most people run ET Fronts (bias ply), makes it less squirrelly?

I have run radials on the front of my car with one set of E.T. Drags, one set of E.T. Streets and 3 sets of Hoosier Quick Time Pros. Never had a problem. I have always run tubes in my rear tires which is supposed to help with the top end "sway". I do know that when I ran any of those tires below 9 psi, the sway got worse. I think the reason some people use front runners is less rolling resistance. I have no experience with them so I can't comment on whether they reduce sway or not.

I always run radials in the front and et streets in the back. I've never had a problem. I've used tubes and no tubes and never really noticed a difference.

I too have always ran radials in front and et streets or slicks out back. I've never had any problems either. The only time I've ever had bad sway at the top end is when my rear tires were under inflated. Mostly only with my old 26x10.5 et streets, never really with 11.5 et streets or 8.5 slicks.

I got quite a bit of sway when running my stock 18" radials up front, and ET Street 10.5 outback. Now I run skinnies up front, and the sway is completely gone.

Another thing to consider is the sway is supposed to be much more noticeable at higher speeds. Those trapping 110mph are not going to experience the same amount of sway as those trapping 125+mph. From those trapping higher, I have heard many who claim the sway is VERY noticeable...so much so that they switched tire's to eliminate it. Just some food for thought.

I trap between 130-135, and I have run Radial Skinnies up front with ET-streets in the back.

There is no noticeable sway when I am in Full-throttle, BUT, when I let off the gas after the finish line, it has gotten a little wobbly.

When I have the ET-streets on with the 17" Cobra wheels/radial, there is a LOT of sway at slow speeds, like taking off upto about 30 MPH, but after that it was fine.

I did that, and I was ok till I passed the 120 mph mark, then it started to get squirrel-ley

Like some have said. The M/T fronts (Sportmans and ET Fronts) have less rolling resistance, reduce rotational weight, and help reduce that "swaying" feeling on the top end. The tire pressure in the ET Streets out back can influence the "sway" as well.
