Went back to the track, made improvement.
Went back to the 1/8th mile tonight, saw some improvement, still think theres more to be found. Track was marginal to poor, they sprayed the launch pad but not any further down track, hooked decent on launch but after a car length tires would spin, everyone was fighting it. On my best pass of the evening, leaving just off idle, with a 1.60 60ft time I managed a 7.29 @ 94.5 mph. Previous best was a 7.40 with a 1.59 60ft. Wierd thing, the 7.40 was on a 4.88 gear but with a 650dp carb. 7.29 pass was w/3.73 gear with an 850DP carb. I went to the 3.73 because I want to run it on the 1/4 mile next time out. On the way to the track, I kept wondering if I'd done the right thing by taking so much gear out of the car, thinking it may slow it down. Pleasantly surprised it didn't. This was footbraking and shifting @ 6000. Didn't shift to high gear until just before the traps. I did have a blast, that was my quickest pass ever. Anxious to find out what it'll do in the 1/4. I think my tires are part of my traction problem, the ones I'm running are a couple years old and used. Any ideas on what my 1/4 times would be? How much improvement could I find going to a transbrake? What do you think? I was hoping to get some video, but the guy that usually goes with me and videos couldn't go tonight. maybe next time.
