What NHRA rules for running 6's in the 1/8 and slowing down before the 1/4

When I get my new engine together it should run around mid 10's. The car will not have a cage or 9" ends this year. So can I just run the 1/8 on a 1/4 mile track a back peddle the back half. I already have some basic stuff like helmet, d/s loop, 31 spline axles, Lakewood scatter shield, and battery tie down. Is there anything else I would need to run 6's in the 1/8?

I think once you run 7.50's in the 1/8 its the same rules as running 11.50's in the 1/4.

You'll need a jacket as well and I think once you hit 11.99 you need at least a 6 point bar...not 100% sure on that.

Here are some FAQ's that are on the NHRA website.

And here is a link for a more complete online rulebook.

I am only able to make it out for 2-3 times of our short season by the time I get my engine and trans together. If I waite for the cage and 9" ends, I will have to waite for June next before I make it out.

Depends on the track, my cousin did that for nearly 3 years, running as fast as 5.91.
