301.5hp/338.6tq N/A w/ a STOCK CAM!!!!

Took a trip to Dayton, OH today.....
Back on the rollers to see what kind of gain the rockers gave me...

1st pull was 294hp/329tq.. (I ran 11.99 @ 112.16mph) on this tune...

best pull was 301.57hp/338.68tq.... I'm hoping to see 11.89 on this tune but that's just a crazy goal of mine... Maybe once the Fall air rolls around... but, on this pull, the temp was 83* and it was around 12 o'clock... The air didn't feel terrible but not ideal...

I'm very pleased with the results to say the least.....
I gained almost 7hp/10 ft. lbs. by going from 1.6's to 1.72's....

Can't wait for the Fall air.....

Jesse: it's an HO cam swapped in...

Steve: I'm very, very happy... It was so nice to see it say 3xx.xx....
The car feels like it has a little more bite to it.. I had to try it out when I was getting on the Interstate... I'm anxious to get to the track... I just hope I can get a sixty foot out of it without having to travel 93 miles north!!

Thanks to everyone for the comments... I think I got a good engine when I found this one...

I love seeing more with less. Awsome..!! Im hoping you dont slow down! Sounds strange but it all comes down where ur new power curves are. Now you have a different shift point. Good luck, Oh try different size tires and drop some weight it will go 11s.

John, I appreciate the comment buddy but I'm a LONG way from being anywhere near competitive or even LEGAL in that class... I'm on slicks, not drag radials.. shoot, my sixty's are 1.59-1.60 on ET drags.. BUT, that is 26 x 8.5".....

How in the world are you doing 1.51 on a drag radial?? 350 lbs. in the trunk?

Besides, next weekend is CRUE FEST in Indy.. I'm not missin' that...

Nitrous SSC: 4.10 rear gears.. the transmission has a 2.95 first gear tho...

Virgil: You are welcome to come out and test the motor for cubic inch/compression/etc..

I'll be sure to have some video footage in the Fall time..

A buddy of mine swears that some stepped Bassani/Kooks headers would pick me up...... That's music to my ears but I can't hardly believe this engine has more left in it...

Hey I got way over 300 hp with my stock cam! I cheated a little though Steve loves to talk about your car. Definately makes me wonder why I spent money on some of the stuff I did. I say you put an adder on there and go 10s with that lump. Great job man!

A couple cars and a pile of parts.

Hey Jared!

Glad to see you reply to my thread man...
Steve is a very big part of why this combo has went this fast and
made as much power as it has.... Without him, it's hard tellin' where
it would be... All I do is drive the car, he tells me what to do about shifting and suspension changes, tire pressure...etc...

I've thought about doing an SQtrim... My canton oil pan already has the fitting on it.... I think I'll leave that for 09' though... This year has been very hectic thus far...

The only regret I have is that I didn't do this 3 years ago...
I let that "bigger motor" hype bite me in the arse....

Thanks... Don't feel silly about wasting the money... I've made about a combined total of 30 pulls on the dyno to see what kind of timing and fuel the car likes... Not to mention, shift points, launch rpm, etc...

If you keep at it, you'll probably surprise yourself... Too often,,,, people throw in the towel and come to terms with what they got but don't realize there's more left in it...

My heads are "done up" with a home port job, heads are right at 54ccs, RPM carb intake and a custom cam. Never even seen a dyno in person, haven't really tuned the car either. Can't get traction and still ran a bottom 12. Thats all going to change come this winter, the heads will be getting a little bit more work and the suspension is also going to see some changes.

New times coming soon.....

you should get heads milled and valve job with this as well to get more compression then you can add the bottle to it

Are the numbers SAE? Aluminum flywheel? Turning how many accessories? Cam advanced or retarded? Those numbers are crazy and the car runs the digits at the track too! Damn! What other secrets? Good info on the rocker swap!

I don't know if the numbers are SAE or not but at the bottom of my dyno sheet.. It says SAE 1.01... it does have an aluminum flywheel... Accessories are the usual, crank, water pump, and alternator.. When I'm racing.. when I leave, I put a different belt on it to enjoy power steering on the way home...

Cam is straight up at 0.... Thanks for saying the numbers are crazy... No other secrets really... No valve job or porting to the heads... intake is untouched...

I helped a friend today put A/C back on his car and it's got me thinking...
That'd be pretty friggin' cool to run 11.9x with the stock cam, and bump the A/C on the way home....

I need to weigh the car... It used to weigh 3,140 w/ me last year but I ditched the blowproof bellhousing for this year... Then, I couldn't stay out of the kitchen and gained about 15-20 lbs. myself...

Noticed you said Canton pan, does it have a crank scraper? Motor have a windage tray? Running it a quart low or running some super thin oil? Man, just fuggin wild! What RPM does it peak and how far does it carry it? That thing is getting down! You should put an E cam in it.....j/k!
