Stiff sidewall or not

Nead new slicks, currently have 10.5-28-15's stiff sidewall, been told by a few people I don't need the stiff sidewalls. M/T recommends stiff for high horsepower cars, 4-link set-ups or cars over 3,000 lbs. l. Mine weighs in at over 4,000 lbs and will be trying to get 1,000 rwhp to hook up.
