Great automatic transmission?

Ok planning on a 351 build with a turbo .7to 800 hp in the end.I need to start makeing some budget for the trans at trans at this point .Car is mostly a street car so what do we think is a good trans for this ?

Someone is going to come in and say you NEED a TH400. For a mostly street car, I am not inclined to agree. But I have not built or even owned a car at that power level.

The first question is how much and what kind of street driving? Then what axle ratio and tire height will you be running? Which both lead into will you need/want an overdrive transmission or not?

Then you can look at what transmission will fit the above limits and be acceptable to build for a cost you're comfortable with.

Thanks for the reply. 327s in the rear .with cars going 75 on the hwy and runing a 351 I dont feel I want to rev this motor like it's a honda on the hwy. So probably a overdrive transmission.

You should check out Silverfox Transmission and his clickclickracing forum. He's a member here too I think. A 4R70W might be the ticket.

Thanks I looked him up looks like great stuff not bad priceing as well as long as you stay about 700 hp iylt looks like .Thanks for that information!

Totally agree. I built my own aod/4r70w for my setup (383w, s475), and it is awesome!
