88GT to 85 F150 motor swap Qs

Yeah its NOT a lightening BUT its a Ford PU I have a VERY tired 302 in a 85 F150 and want to take my healthy 5.0 from my GT and transplant it. I know the intake from the truck needs to be retained. What else do I need to look out for?

1. Will the cam's firing order be diff? If so would a rollor explorer cam work?
2. Timing cover need swapping?
3. Can I keep the stang headers if I run new exhaust?
4. others?

1. Yes the firing order will be different, but you can run the 5.0 firing order on the truck distributor.
2. If you are going to leave the brackets on the gt motor, then it will bolt right in and use the same timing cover with the serpentine belt system.
3. Do you have long tubes or shorties? I used MAC equal shorties on my 91 f 150. There was a tight spot on the drivers side at the firewall flange, but just a few taps with a hammer or a pry with a pry bar will fix it.
4. You will have to see if the alternator will bolt in the serpentine brackets, and as said above, use the truck distributor and change intakes.

Good Luck,
David

I know I can switch the spark plug wires around to change the firing order but what about the fuel injectors? how do you move them? If the harness is like the Mustangs, those wiere will not reach beyond where they are intended.

Did the 1985 EFI F150 used an 28 oz balance?

If you use the intake for the 85, that should take care of the injector issues. What type of EFI is on the 85? Throttle body or per cylinder? I'm pretty sure they are 28 oz but not positive.

50oz motor, bank firing Speed Density EFI. It fires injectors 1,4,5, & 8 at the same time and 2,3,6, & 7 at the same time.
