94 f150 what mods

hey people, i usually browse the 87-93 stang threads. but my friend just bought an 94 f150 with a 302. and wants to work the motor a little. i told him to do headers/cold air intake/pulleys and gears. although its an auto. might be able to do all that for less than a 800.00 what do you guys think?? also does his f150 have the holley style intake. or should he just go blower and be done with it. he doesnt want mega power. but i think he would be happy with 300rwhp. i let him drive my s-trimed stang once with 460rwhp and he had permagrin. lol

well, the reason i told him exhaust, cold air, pulleys and gears. is because we could do everything except the gears. and we can also get a set of gt40p heads and headers for 300.00 unused.

If the truck has mass air then you can do all the stuff like a mustang , if it is speed density then some stuff won't work worth a crap .

I agree. I ran into that problem with my old 88 cougar 5.0. We had speed density, though many of the 5.0 cougar guys opted for a mass air conversion, then picked up all the HO mustang parts dirt cheap.

If it is speed density, you could always do a conversion

Most everything that'll work with mass air will work with speed density.Cam selection is limited and you need a chip or other tuning devise to use larger fuel injectors.

If it is factory, it has the truck style intake which is huge! They make good tq but aftermarket intakes make a good bit more hp and tq.
I would reccomend the advice you gave, a better intake and heads, plus a 5.0HO cam advanced 2* if SD. If Mass air, go with a E303 or something similar. He will need the cam to come in around 1800 and go out at 5200(factory rev limit). The factory cams in these trucks are terribly weak!
