GF is thinking of buying 95 lightning what to look for?

I don't know much about these trucks besides they have a 351 in them. She is thinking of buying a 95 lightning from her uncle. It has fresh paint job, interior is in good shape and it seems to run pretty good. What are some things to look for on it before purchasing? How many miles are they usually good for?(I'm not sure of the mileage) He wants 6k for it, is that a good price?

110k miles, paint is ok... looks good everywhere but the bed is sratched up real bad. Engine runs good and tranny shifts good. Everything is stock, has an alpine 6 disc changer and 2 10" behind the seats. They are acting like they are "hooking her up" with a fat deal for 6k but i'm starting to think she should offer less.

I don't think 6K is a bad deal at all especially for a '95. The 95 has a better transmission than the 93 and 94. Also, 110,000 miles isn't much for a stock truck that is taken care of. Mine has 156,000 on it and it still runs strong on the original engine/trans/rear end. I would seriously consider buying it for 6 if I was her, but thats just me. I don't think I would let mine go for 6, in fact I know I wouldn't.

BTW, you said you don't know much about them so heres a little info:

It has a 351W with GT40 heads, GT40 intake, speed density, 4.10 rear with 31 spline axles, E4OD transmission with 1800rpm stall, aluminum driveshaft, etc. If you have any other questions I have some good info sites saved at home and www.nloc.net is the greatest thing in the world for lightning owners. Good luck.

So what mods wake them up the best? I was thinking of doing stall converter/shift kit exhaust and pullies. What kind of times are we looking at with those mods?

open up the exhaust, get rid of the cats (if you can), pulleys, open up the breather with an fipk of some sort. if you want to spend a little more money, a mass air conversion is a good deal. BUY GOOD TIRES. Mine has horrendous traction problems.

The trucks are good for well over 200,000 miles if taken care of.

Driving mine on the highway and not being an ass, i get 18mpg, which is pretty typical when i talk to the guys from nloc.

Put your foot in it, however, you can expect horrible economy...heheh

Town type driving sucks bad, too.
