Newbie question

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it in the archives - how difficult is swapping a 5.0HO Stang motor out for a 5.8 Lightning motor? Will the trans still bolt up? Also, what is the overall difference in heights between the two engines?
Chris

The lightning has a 5.8 in it, and you dont want the lightning trans in a car. The E40D is way too big to fit into a car. If you want to use an AOD or a C4 it will bolt up to the 351.

The motor will be going in a very heavy Jeep. Does the Lightning engine pair up pretty well with a C6 (I'll probably be using some E4OD internals for more torque capacity)? Thanks!

Any small block ford will bolt up to any small block ford trans.
You could get away with a C$ for that swap.
I dont think anything from an E40D will work in a C6.

From what I understand, the E40D is a slightly (depending on year) beefed up version of the C-6 with an overdrive and is electronically controlled. - Brian

Thanks for the replies, guys. The C6/E4OD parts stuff that I was referring to is some sort of conversion by Jet Performance.
How much hp/tq can a stock block/crank/rods/pistons Lightning motor typically handle before blowing up? I'd like to go heads/cam/supercharger and produce as much as I safely can.
Right now, I'm wiring up a stock 5.0HO out of a Stang, but will be building the Lightning motor to drop in this coming winter. The Jeep is going to weight around 6000 lbs, and the tires/wheels that I'll be using are extremely heavy, so I'm trying to build it with as much motor as I can without getting too expensive or too heavy a motor. Thanks!
Chris
