I need help on a BIG decision

I have an 83 Gt that I am setting up for drag racing only. So far on the car I have a tubular front end and a 4 inch cowl induction hood. After being in college for over a semester, I am beginning to realize the car won't be done till after college and thats too long. So I am thinking about getting around a 94 F-150 and making it a hyped up Lightning. The engine that was gonna be put in the car was originally designed for both the street and strip so it would work in the truck. Its a 408W with ported Vic. Jr. heads and intake. The cam is a solid roller and is around .608/.614 with a 248/248 duration if i remember right. So here is the real question, do I want to spend over 10 grand on the mustang or half that on a truck? And if your thinking why dont I drive the mustang on the street, I live in College Station, Tx and after a week I would need new headers. Thanks a ton.
