ford pro

it all started by driving down the street and found a boat for sale,,,cool boat, but it had a windowed 1969 351w in it,,,,$800.00 bucks,,,i bought it, found a gen1 95 351w fate 6015 aa 13, took it to the machine shop, they washed it, honed it .030, line bore, new cam bearings, ect....i put it all back together, with a new piston and a new rod,,,all good,,,runs, idles, revs up great,,
but under load, it only pulls to 4300rpm, @ about 3/4 throttle...then nothing,,
no bog, no change in sound or performance what so ever,,,so i took the motor out,,,,

I have the pro comp distributor, that i have set at 8 and 35 total,,,all in at 3000rpm,,,,all with a msd rev limiter,, set at 5500rpm

the valve springs are new, the ones recommended on the comp cam build sheet,,, they have 5 hours on them, and all put together by the machine shop that did the block and the heads....C90E all done up,,,ported

i just did a compression test on it,,,,all bellow 100psi,,wet and dry,,,two differant gauges!!!!!why

cc'ed the total combustion chamber,,= 103 cc's

cam is a comp cam
35-242-3
grind fw xe268h-10
valve lift .510 .512
duration @ .050 224 231
lobe sep 110

eddlebrock torker 2 manifold
600 eddy carb, 71 76 jets
open exhaust

oh oh ,,this is a jet boat,,,same as a car but add a 3000 stall converter,,,
this motor should run to 5500rpm and 350 to 400 hp

i took the timming cover of,,and the chain was very loose,,couldn't even tell if it was lined up right,,,but bought a new one,,nice and tight now,,
with the stock deep dish pistons its only about 9.5 to 1,,,i think,,,
may be turbo time

any thoughts or questions,,,please and thx

Your compression looks way low to begin with.Another thing I notice is with those heads I don't think your at the 350-400 hp you may believe. I would guess 275 to 300. Your initial timing looks a bit low. You may also want to place this in the 5.0/5.8 Windsor category. Your not going to get much help in this section. It isn't frequented much and all the engine guru's are in the other section.
My stock lightning motor with afr185 heads, a trick flow cam, headers and other things only made 316 rwhp. At the crank that would be around 350-360.
