i think hes trying to say anyone know any cheap mods that you can do with out buying anything or maybe tuning adjustments for more power to his truck..

id say maybe try to pull some timing from it and possibly modify the stock airbox a bit

Advance timing to 14, use 93 octane...save money, then look for a lighting top end kit with gt-40 302 lower..

go to the junk yard and get some 4.10's out of the back of an explorer.. its not completely free but bigger bang for the buck.. factory "Y" pipe is holding exhaust up a bit.. Holley Systemax car upper intake will bolt to the stock lower intake and will flow more than a gt40... it probably has a smog pump..throw that away.. maybe look into bronco bucket seats.. they may be lighter than the bench.. cant say for sure, they are pretty big as well..

or he can just drive it and wait to buy a race car..

Back in high school I had an 87 4x4 f150 5.0. Best mods were stock HO mustang cam and 87-88 mustang computer swap. Had to do some rewiring but it was nearly free and was a big jump in power over stock. Next best thing was cheap 1 1/2" long tube headers and dual 2 /12" exhaust. It ran [email protected] using only 2 gears in the C6 transmission 3.55 gears. Surprised a few imports back then and burned off 3 sets of Futuras in about a year. Ahh those were the days... LOL

DO NOT PUT 4.10's in a stock 302 powered truck!!! Headers and a good exhaust system will give the best gains on a stock motor. Find a junkyard explorer intake and heads and then get a tweecer.Stick with 3.55's and nothing lower.

Like mentioned above,, dont go wit 4.10's with the 302. I did a complete Gen 1 lightning suspension swap on my truck and kept 302 for long time before 351. I really considered swapping to 3.55's, only thing that kept me from doing it, was knew 351 was going in. With the 351, the 4.10's are right on..

seeing as how the stock upper intake signs off about 4k, I'd have to agree.. but it's dumbass to try and go fast with a truck intake anyhow..
