The early lightning also needed to be converted to accept roller cams....who's the idiot at SVT who decided that flat tappet would be a good option?

Bean counters FTL... instead of developing the engine the right way, they shoehorned in a boat motor..

Why are you wanting to convert to mass air? There is a lot you can do and still and still run sd. There is also a lot of misinformation on the limits of sd. Changing to mass air is a nice chunk of money that could go to other mods that will make more power.

I am not saying to not go with mass air, I just don't want to see you waste the money because of bad info you might have been given.

If you do decide to go mass air, like others said, contact Ed.

the motor is dam good.
and yes u can go far on speed density just need right tuner and tune

i prefer mass air for better cam and lil better gas mileage but power can be made no problem on sd. and also on flat tappet cams

i converted to mass air, then went back to speed density b/c the mass air conversion for our trucks in only so tunable, and once you start getting over 450 hp there isn't much you can do to give it more fuel on the top end

It depends on the mass air conversion you use. Mine is based on the mustang A9L. It is about as tunable as a stock EEC can be.

If you used the Ford Motorsport kit, I don't know anything about them. If you use the A9L eec, it is much more tunable then the stock eec. I have ran my 383ci S-Trim combo with sd, and now with mass air. Even without much tuning, I am already happier than I was with sd. It was ok with the sd, but I just had too many little issues that I could not work out. All those little issues added up to it not being fun to drive on the street anymore.
