Timing cover corrosion repair?

I was cleaning this engine up, and the drain behind the water pump for the timing cover was plugged, and there is corrosion. I took my wood handled chip brush and was hitting against the deepest pit, and it dented out on the back side. Is this safe to repair with just silicone or JB Weld? Or should I bite the bullet and buy new?

And off this topic, are these numbers piston fit numbers stamped into the oil pan gasket surface?

Personally I’d replace it. Get a new bolt kit too.

Anyone ever use one of these?

Was looking at reviews for the older version, and there were comments about drilling out flashing, timing pointer hole not tapped, seemed softer... Makes me wonder on these ones.

If you recommend one, hopefully it is from Summit as that's about a 45 min drive to pick it up tomorrow.

Allstar is just the name. I have used probably 1000 or so of these and cant recall a time where I didnt use one because of an issue. If you want to grind out the casting flash in the water ports have at it, but it wont make one bit of operational difference.
