Stop the machine shop ASAP. If you're building an engine, just start with a 351w.

To answer your actual question...I'm assuming this is a budget build and you're limited on how may pennies you have to waste on it. So....I'd avoid the ProComp unless you have a friend that is a machinist that likes to work for free. The ProMAXX are a much better quality part for the money.

The Trick Flow, in whatever flavor you prefer, won't do a single thing any other head would do in this application, and all the OTS pistons are made for 20 degree heads, so why create uncertainty for bragging rights?

You've got a decent plan. Follow your plan.

If its just a Saturday, Sunday car then just do a search for "Big Dogs Porting", (check facebook), tell him what you are looking for and he will hook you up. Better performance and under your budget. I've had eight mustangs with all sorts of combos, AFR, Trick Flow, FMS, etc. My aggressively ported GT-40 mild build stuff runs way better on the street then all the others I've had. Better quality parts, attention to detail and matched combination are the trick.

AFR165's work REALLY well on mild 5.0's. May be out of budget, but check the classifieds....sometimes they'll pop up on the used market for what a set of chincanese heads go for new.

Also don't discount the Edelbrock Performer RPM heads....I picked up a set last Friday, used, for $400 WITH a nice set of Comp stainless rockers. Guy was upgrading to a set of cleveland style heads and dumped the edelbrock's because apparently nobody uses them anymore. That said, I've personally taken my Maverick into the 9's with the exact same heads (N/A)-- so they can work just fine.

I don't think great deals on used AFRs or TFS heads show up on the classifieds very often anymore. I've been watching for months. People want $1300+ for decent but used of the mentioned heads and most would still need to be checked out at a machine shop.

Hard to justify spending that on used when you could use a coupon code and get TFS170s for about the same from LMR. However, if you don't buy new heads from an engine builder for $1600-1700, you might end up with a machine shop bill anyway.

Mark, today there are many international marriages.

My Wife is a Singaporean. A highly educated one at that. Calling someone a chinc is racist.

It’s not based on your perception but the perception of the person on the receiving end. It’s not at all political to not denigrate other people it’s simply a matter of respect.

Exactly what person "on the receiving end" was "offended" by those comments? Oh, you can not name any specific person? Then it did not happen. Lighten up buttercup.

Someone above specifically called the post out as racist.

There is no lighten up about it. I can’t help if you are culturally ignorant. But I can tell you that calling something chincanese is flat out racist.

Common things that racists do:
1. Deny it exists
2. Call those who complain too sensitive.
3. hate being called out

You need to quit being offended for other people and worry about yourself. Anybody can call me whatever they want and I am not offended. I choose to not be offended. You choose to be offended for someone else...stop it. You are part of the problem.

I didn’t chose to be offended WHITE BOY, someone posted a racist post. It’s offensive. I’m not the only one who called it out.

Maybe you should get a dose of racism thrown at you. Go overseas and talk #### and when you get your teeth knocked out then it will ring true.

You live in white ass Maine. You lack any cultural awareness.

When you’ve experienced racism first hand then you’ll get it. Until then STFU.

I can. Me. I found it and all racism patently offensive. It serves no purpose. Ignorant people are racist. I am not Chinese. That doesn't mean I can't call out someone being racist when I see one.

Even if you can't see that is racist, it doesn't mean that it isn't. Racism is racism. That post was racist. You can deny it all you want, but it was as racist. End of debate.

It was racist to you. Not to me. I refuse to let others define me or my freedom of speech and thought. People who want racism tend to find racism. Just like that Jussie Smullet character. He needed racism to validate his own misguided feelings, he could not find it, so he invented it to justify his "feelings". So much is made of so little. When I was growing up there was this little rhyme "Sticks and stone may break my bones, but names will never hurt me". You are looking to be offended at something not directed at you. Congrats, you found it. You also are part of the problem for taking something personal that had no bearing on you other than your "feelings". Like I said previously: lighten up buttercup. You are another person that needs racism to validate your feelings. Your life sucks. I refuse to let you or anyone else tell me how to think or feel. He also started off with a racist “white boy” comment and said you were from “white Maine”....he’s from “white” NH. So he’s calling you out for racist comments using other racist comments. WTF? But he’s such a worldly tough guy. Prob never left Nashua or whatever thug neighborhood he lives in.....in NH.
Anyways, this country needs to unite as AMERICANS and care for each other as AMERICANS. You can be proud of your culture and ancestry, hell ya, but remember we’re all AMERICANS. We aren’t the same race and that’s ok, but we are all AMERICANS.

You can justify to yourself about remaining ignorant about racism all you want. Racism is still racism. Calling someone or something "chinc" is racist. It is racist just the same as any other racist name. Racist is racist even if the target doesn't hear it.

You also assume I am taking something personally when I am not. I can't take something personal when it's not directed at me. But I can see that it's racist and call it out. Which I did. You are actively arguing the indefensible position of deliberately remaining ignorant about that in fact being a racist term. You are actually arguing to be racist. It is your right. Own it. Enjoy it.

I am just explaining to you that you will find racism if you want to find it, whether it is racism or not. You have a very broad all encompassing definition of racism. I believe it is much more narrowly defined. You can not impose your own definition on all people, just because you believe it to be true. I believe in free speech and free thought. You seem to believe in thought control and curtailing freedom of speech. You can define me however you want, thing is, I do not put an ounce of thought into what you think of me. You have the problem, not me. Keep banging that drum if it makes you happy, I do not care.

Yeah....I don't much care what other people think, being a victim is political power.

As for racism, everyone in America has a right to be as racist as they want to. They have a right to say what they want to. I'm not going to get wound up about it one way or the other. I don't really care about people's "perceptions." If you want to run around pleasing everyone, go ahead. You'll wind up pleasing no one, not even yourself.

There is no lighten up about it. I canít help if you are culturally ignorant. But I can tell you that calling something chincanese is flat out racist.

Common things that racists do:
1. Deny it exists
2. Call those who complain too sensitive.
3. hate being called out

I said "Commie Carrillo."

The rods were from China. China is a Communist nation.

Get a grip.

Maybe you should get a dose of racism thrown at you. Go overseas and talk #### and when you get your teeth knocked out then it will ring true.

You live in white ass Maine. You lack any cultural awareness.

When youíve experienced racism first hand then youíll get it. Until then STFU.

Being silent about it doesnít fly with me MFer.

Until then STFU.
There is an "X" in the upper right hand corner.

No. The problem is people that can't mind their own business.
