Are those independent scales necessary or is there another way?
Scales allow you to verify that the changes you are making are the correct ones. That does not mean that you can not get the car set up without them. It just helps verify that what you did is correct or not. It is amazing how much the weight can be manipulated side to side and front to back just with suspension height adjustments. But by and large, getting the instant center correct is more important than "scaling" the car. You can have perfect front/back side/side weights and if the instant center is off the car is not going to hook. The scales are the fine tune part of the equation.
