which supercharger for me

well i broke it down and im starting over.. again.

i have a dart 408 from fordstrokers which started out with very high compression. im now sending it back to Jim to put some new pistons in and bring it down to 9.1. and everything else will stay the same. ill probably have a new cam made. but im guessing it would be better to know which sc im going to be using first. if i still had a 302 id probably use an s-trim, but now that ive gone bigger thinking its not enough. so hoping you guys can help me choose which supercharger would be best.

The big question is how much power do you want to make? And what type of gas will you be running?

exactly what i was thinking... i figured the t would be good head unit, but the YSi for a max effort.

What rpm range u have ur cam made to plays a part. If u r going to redline around
6500 then a T trim is perfect. If u are going to be upwards of 7000, then JT or Ysi is for you. The t is happy around 55k rpm, while the other 2 like to be spun about 10k faster. With 408 I would go with a jt or ysi. Decide now, so you choose the right cam and fuel system. The 2 larger blowers drink a bit more.

id like to at least be at 600 to the wheel, but i will want more later im sure. pump gas. not spinning past 7000 and that would only be at the track. i can only get out there maybe once or twice a month so it wont see that rpm often.

Something that will move some CFM with the larger cubic inches. 600rwhp is simple with those cubes and a blower.

I stuck with a T cuz I am mainly a street car. Like u, my car will only be raced a handful of times per year. I have mine down to the short block now installing bigger heads from the 170s I had on here. I was thinking of swapping cams and going ysi but decided to stick with current cam and blower. The main reason is cuz my car is not going to be seeing 7000rpms on the public roads. 6500 on the rare highway romp is risky enough and with this kind of power, u have to get out of it quickly anyway unless u don't value your license, freedom, or life.......let alone others. I just felt the T was a more street friendly blower. With a 408, 600whp is cake. I figure to be 700ish this time around and in 9s.

94 GT- Fordstrokers Dart 408, FTI 240 highports, custom cam, magnum t-56, and some other stuff.

That's some stout hardware but you mentioned 600rwhp but with the ability to move up from there. I'm going to assume that a 750rwhp street car is the goal. I'm also going to assume you have the correct associated parts (injectors, axles, etc.) to go with 750+rwhp

In the ProCharger family of blowers: You basically have 2 options.
D1(oil fed): Capable of making 900HP on a properly prep'ed 302 while retaining all your factory accessories. But it might be a little to small for your setup.
F1 (A, C,): Capable of making 1000+HP on your setup but you have to do without power steering, A/C and relocate a few accessories. Not worth the hassle in my opinion.

Vortech
Ysi: Should cover all your HP needs above 700rwhp. Anything lower I think you would be losing HP (area underneath the curve) to a smaller blower.

Paxton
Novi2000: Should cover your HP needs from 600 to 750+rwhp without any issues.

thing is it has to stay streetable.i want to be able to jump in and ride and have it (power) there when i want to get on it! i would think anything past 700 would be a pain. although i think it would be badass to have that kind of power too. yes i have everything to back it up. rear will be getting built here shortly. i dont want to lose any accessories and actually im thinking of putting the ac back on. the t, ysi, and the paxton sound good.. just going to have to do some reading and decide which one will be the best for the job.

The more I read the more I like the Paxton. Only thing is I don't see a kit for my 94? I have swapped to a fox tb, but I'm not sure about the brackets?

Not the Novi 2000 or Novi 2500. All the other Paxtons should fir with vortech brackets.

Suspect, if you keep the 94/95 accessories you will need the Paxton brackets for 94/95. They are hard to come by used. Call Paxton to see if they have any leftovers as they did discontinue the kit for the 94-95 Mustangs (assuming due to lack of sales).

Procharger F1.
I, myself think it's stupid to build an all serious engine with a supercharger on it and not have an intercooler. Especially on a street car.
And also I'm a Procharger fan
My vote goes for a Procharger F1 with an IC setup.
I kind of cringe when I see all of these super serious awesome car/engine builds here and then they have strapped a Vortech to it without an IC.

x2

The Novi2000 is great I love mine. I traded my T-trim for a rengade version driver side and will not look back. It is real streetable and made 700rwhp on 12 lbs of boost on a dart 347 on pumpgas.

Subscribing, To see what you decide.
I am currently building a low-boost 427cid FordStroker with Vortech (still deciding T/YSI).
