Good deal -- thought I'd check. I was going to surprise one of my buddies with one...although, I'm not sure of all the options. Guess I'd have to sort that out. How do you/your clients figure that out when you're doing one for a fox body?

Several ways:

Marti report is most accurate, but isn't always 100% accurate and doesn't always show the combo packages.

If they don't have a Marti, then they list every conceivable option they can visually find, and I build packages from there. I have a few books for reference and hundreds of sample window stickers to compare with. I also use their door tag but it only shows certain options, not all of them.

So it's somewhat science, somewhat educated guesswork.

My buddy Brad got some polish to work on windshield wiper scratches in his windshield on the Jag XKE. Thought I'd give the felt wheel/polish a go on mine. Won't take big pits out (not enough time in the universe to remove that much glass!) -- but we'll see what it does. Free except for several hours of back-wrenching work with the drill. Need to renew my attempts to get a local shop to put a new one in with a wider rubber trim to cover my paint line.

If you need a hand with the degree, let me know. I'd be willing to come over and help you with it. Seems like I had to put it a 2A to get the valve events where Buddy wanted them --- but lots of variables there including my crank keyway accuracy - so no telling where yours will want it.

Very nice, I love to build an engine from scratch with new parts. I miss that, and now strokers are the rage and it's easier to pay someone else to do it. I might get to do a 351 for my Ranchero if things go well.

Have fun with that, it looks great from the few pics I saw.

LOL - having done both - I much prefer just writing a check and having the whole danged engine show up on a crate! But - when you're doing what Bob is doing, not much choice.

It is fun, especially a normal and common pushrod V8.

The newer engines with the much more complicated valve trains, I'd pass unless I had tons of time to learn it. I want to do another 351, I've done about four, but this next time would be with aftermarket Cleveland heads, and big open intake, EFI, and the late model Explorer accessories. Mix the old with the new, and save an old car. That's fun.

Good news today - in Augusta with Mom. We were successful in getting her re-admitted to the rehab/nursing facility she was in over the holidays. They have 8 slots for long term residents and she got one. When her money runs out, they'll help us file the appropriate paperwork to switch her over to Medicaid. Fabulous facility that she's already experienced (and they've experienced her) and she liked the food! The move will be emotionally tough -- but no more multiple docs chasing multiple medications. And we don't have to bring hospice in to help manage her pain. AND - we get to go ahead and go through her "stuff" to get that all done now. Feb. 22nd is her move-in date.

Yeah, that made the rounds few weeks back. However, the summer edition car has suddenly appeared for sale by the Gas Monkey Garage guys for significantly less. And GMG guys and the owner of the collection are big buddies. So it appears there was a bunch of shill bidding that happened to try and bring up prices all around.

When prices hit, fox body guys were crying foul left and right. For good reason. Those cars brought as much money as super low mileage R models are bringing. I think it will be a momentary blip in prices and they will stabilize after that.

Well done Michael, I hope your mom likes it there.

My dad is now at the NHC rehab place here, finally he can begin regaining some strength from being in bed two weeks at UT. He had an aneurysm that grew 3mm(6-9) in the last nine months. They put off emergency surgery until a partner doctor could see him, for a possible custom stint. They would have done that, but it would have been a 2-3 week wait, to come from Australia, custom made. We opted for the procedure a couple days later, and hopefully two stints has done the same thing(block one kidney artery where the aneurysm is). So far so good, short term.

Hope your Dad gets to feeling better Don. As you might expect, mom doesn't want to move. Asked today if it had to be so soon. I reminded her that our goal was to move her BEFORE she broke her pelvis in a fall -- and that we'd missed that target. Besides I said, will it really be any easier a month from now? Reluctantly, she said 'no'. Can't let the slot get away. This facility is far and away the nicest I've ever seen and the staff are top notch. Just say yes.

It's nice that her mind is still seemingly pretty sharp. Makes doing things like that much easier. The tow experiences I've gone through (maternal grandmother and mother in law) wasn't as easy due to altzemers and brain cancer.

Makes me chuckle - you can an AMAZINGLY cogent conversation with her -- and 2 hours later, she doesn't remember that you had it. What happened in 1938 in Hopewell, Virginia? Crystal clear. What did we talk about at the beginning of lunch? Not so much....

There are times when her having that cognition is quite frustrating as she can argue with great veracity! But I'll take that over the alternatives any time.

Move on Wed. for mom went pretty well. She had a bit of an anxious evening that night when my sister Kelly went to leave her. Memory gap -- told Kelly she wished we had consulted her before we moved her. Of course, she'd been intimately involved in the planning -- who would get certain pieces of furniture, a reception so friends could say farewell, etc. But tonight (24 hours later) she seemed completely normal on the phone with me. Go figure.

We learned to gently steer conversations away from contentious subjects - course we were dealing with advanced altheimers. I'd chalk your mother up to "old age". My wife's 93yo grandmother has occasional issues like that. But still lives alone and does quite well for herself. She has good support network with us and one of her daughters only four miles away.

My broken finger is almost healed up. Still a bit sore on the tip. Almost all the feeling is back in it. I think, even though it didn't break the skin, I had quite a bit of soft tissue damage in the tip of it. I'm at about 80-90% usage on it as far as normal day to day activities. There are occasions where I hit it on something and get kind of a twinge (2-3 on scale of 1-10 pain rating). Will be six weeks this Sunday since I broke it.

If the tenderness isn't gone in another month, I'll likely go get an X-ray or something - could be a bone fragment floating around in there.

Finger update - I'd say 99%. Has little twinges when I use it certain ways but other than that it's doing great.

Life update - I will be starting a new job on March 27. Empire distributors out of Knoxville off Baum drive. They are a subsidiary of a company owned by Berkshire Hathoway. Will be at current location until roughly January next year, then moving to a brand new purpose build 178,000sf warehouse in Maryville (will shorten my drive by 10 miles one way to boot). I'll be doing same type of design stuff I'm doing now. Awesome benefits, cuts my current insurance cost in half, picking up dental and eye, and a significant increase in pay. Well worth the drive. Very excited, but nervous as well. Current job I've been at for 10.5 years so it's going to take adjustment.

Kudos to Goodson's company for setting up an awesome sound system for us at the baseball field. Working like a champ.

That's great Richard, congrats. Maryville, now that's Ford country. Do you know of a Bobby Colter, who used to own a 68 Bronco with a Windsor in it, a 408W before that? He used to work at the Honda dealer, where I was for a few years too.

Sorry, I read Maryville and missed the 10 miles less not meaning in Maryville. I haven't been down that way much since 1990 when I got out of the dealerships(low pay for what I did).

Congrats Richard!!!! A little trepidation is just your body/mind's way of preparing you to excel at something new. You'll be great I'm sure.

Looks like the guys at Street Muscle Magazine may do a mini-feature on the Volvo. You never know until -- but they're asking for pictures and the Editor and writer seem genuinely pumped up about the car and the article. We shall see.

3 tanks of fuel now since working through all the 1st start gremlins. 19.9, 20.1 and today's tank - 20.7mpg. Not too shabby for tanks right here in the Charlotte area. Time for a longer road trip to see what happens out on the highway.

Not too shabby - especially since the motor really isn't broken it yet. What is that motor rated at in one of their cars mpg wise? I know their cars are heavier, but I am curious.

Today, however, in the Fit, I made the NASCAR drafting instructors blush. The end of bike week in Daytona provided this Super Sugar Daddy for my last 40 or miles into Charlotte. Based on diesel exhaust of the tractor -- mega HP -- he set his cruise on 68 mph and never varied up hill or down. PERFECT. And perfect weather conditions. I was never any closer 6-7 car lengths behind him.
