Anybody heard of or used Paul Anthony Race Engines ?
They've got some killer prices on shortblocks , but I've seen or heard nothing about them .

Never heard of them. Doesn't mean they are bad...talk to them, see if they sound like they know what they are doing.

I have one of his low cost 347's...so far so good.....honestly id buy another 347 from him before i bought another dss shortblock...ran me 1700 for the forged shortblock to my door. I wouldnt throw too much boost/nitrous at it but for a stock replacement NA combo all is good.

what erks me -
line honing isnt required unless you are studding or changing caps hx series bearings? x stands for extra clearance, something you DEFINITELY wouldnt need with a linehone if they are lazy in properly posting an ad, do you really want them in your motor? if you do infact get everything they list, thats a hell of a deal though |

I had looked at them when I was deciding on who I was going to use in my Dart sportsman based 351 stroker project.
He was very quick to respond to any email inquiries that I had. There is very little feedback available on the various mustang forums, but what I did find was all positive. The only negative was that his price on eBay for a Dart sportsman 408W shortblock suddenly went from around $4300 to $5200 with the exact same add being posted. When I sent him a questin, he very quickly responded that they had made standard some of the components that were optional. I looked at the add again and those optional components were still listed as "optional" and didn't appear to be included in the total. When I contacted him again, he replied saying that they hadn't gotten around to updating the specifics of the ad. A short time later the price was again listed back at $4300. So he had time to increase the price $900 but didn't have time to edit the ad to justify the price increase? Doing internet business is risky and just something as minor as that set off alarm bells for me. I ultimately decided to go with Rick at www.rnhperformance.com I'm still waiting for the motor so I can't give full feedback on him yet, but a fair amount of people on the different forums have used him with no complaints that I've found. His best was 10.20 @ 130mph I watched the video you included and noticed it was taken at TDR (Thompson Drag Raceway). I live 10 minutes from there and was even at the trach the day that video was taken . Pit side , at the strip, blue 10X10 tent and Grey Toyota Tundra (my old truck). How funny. Would you mind giving me your buddy's email or phone #, so I can pick his brain on PARE ? Mine is private email is FDragol417@alltel.net and my cell is (216)570-5965. Thanks,

Where is Paul located? His website definitely lacks business info. All I see is a phone number.

/off topic... Why is a 10.20 - 130 MPH "supercharged" stroker impressive? Tim Flanders "naturally aspirated" low dollar 408 runs faster with pump gas and drag radials. /on topic Frank... There are plenty of local shops you may want to consider. Email me and we'll track one down for you. Ed

I think it's pretty impressive for a pump gas street car. Full Interior, Drag radials and it even still has the stock upper control arms and only SSM lowers.
![]() By no means record breaking but a low 10 second street car really gets peoples attention around our area.

I'll bet that car would easily get into the 9's with some suspension work and the motor is probably mild enough to take that car cross country with no problems. That seems like a fun combo to me.

The only reason i state we line hone the block if it is needed, some blocks need it some don't need a line hone. you are right, if you use a girdle or studs or both. 99% of the time it needs to be line honed. I would like to think we do a very good job setting up bearing clearences. most street motors are set .0023 to .0025, are 351w i like to run a little looser .0026 to .0030 with high psi-std volume oi pumps. I do include a build sheet with every motor that states all the clearences, maby a little to indepth but i i'm very picky about how i do things. we build anywhere from 80-200 engines a year with a 99.99% return rate. Nothing leaves my shop with out me looking and checking it over. I have a small shop and would like to keep it that way, i have one other builder/helper that has over 37 years experence RANDY MALIK, he is a goodsin to me. We are located in the motor city that is one of reasons we have such good prices, almost everything we need to build engine is only a hop and skip away. ok now i'm rambling on ..... lol, if there is anyway i can help anyone i will do my best. i'm a racer just like everyone else on the site.

At least I don't have to sell Ebay engines to stay in business!
