F303 cam idle and sound
Hello all
I am going to be getting my old 93 Cobra back here soon and one of the first things i would like to do is switch the cam. It has an E cam in it now and the 1.7 rockers to go with it. Does anyone have any sound clips of an F cam in a stock 5.0 with either the cobra iron or aftermarket heads? How well do these idle compared to the E cam? Also, will this cam pass emissions? Will i have to go with the 1.6 rockers as well for clearance issues? Thanks guys, Nick |

Ive had the f303 in my car and went with a custom cam. I enjoyed the extra 25hp and 40tq improvement (w/ afr heads)...How it would sound never really crossed my mind

sound of cam
No, i just want to hear what it would sound like. I don't want a cam that has so much lope it feels like it is going to die while idling.
I like to specs of the F cam and the car has an E cam in it and i wanted to hear the difference between the two. I also have thought of a custom cam as well, just havent put too much thought into it. |

You should, to optimize your combo; otherwise Jay Allen will recommend on off the shelf cam for $50. Also keep in mind the letter cams were designed at least 20 years ago.

I have the f-cam in a 306. Dart iron heads (not drilled for emmisions), Cobra intake and long tube headers. All emmisions stuff is disconected and removed. I bolt up a set of 2.5 highflow cats every couple of years for the emmisions test and pass with flying colors every time. It is the Indiana emissions test. I put the fuel pressure at 38psi, Set the timing at 10 degrees, get the car good and hot then go take the test. Past 4 times taken I have always passed.
