Bassani Question
So I bought a OR Dr. Gas x pipe to go along with my bassani mufflers. I am now debating on going back to cats.... First of all I live in California and emmisions sucks. So dont want to get jacked for that. And plus I have heard alot of people say that bassani sounds better catted anyways. Help me with this decision.

The cats might cost you only 5 hp.

well.... there is alot of street racing where I live and cops pull people over all the time. Im not worried about PASSING smog, Ill just put the stock h pipe back on. Im worried about a cop pulling me over for illegal exhaust and in Cali I have heard you get effed in the A for not having cats. So.... just not sure what to do. I think I might just put the ORX on and see how loud it is.

I had both. Actually prefer the catted x to the Dr. Gas as far as sound. The offroad was really loud (not as in loud that I couldn't stand it, loud as in the police would look at you if you didn't idle by.)
You're not losing much hp wise as mentioned before. I dyno'd before and after and it was marginal. A cold day versus warm day was more of a factor. Just my .02 cents.

I have the Bassani cat-back on mine and I had the Bassani catted X on it and it had a nice deep throaty sound and sounded good at wot. I tried a bassani off-road X and it sounded bad, real kackly and high pitched. For one last try I put a BBK off-road H-pipe on it and it sounds the best. It got rid of the raspy sound and has a real agressive tone at wot. I still have no drone or anything and it's pretty quiet just cruisin along. Plus, the real miracle was that the bbk off-road H-pipe fit perfect with no mods. I love the bassani stainless stuff, but I like the mean sound of the H-pipe more. If you actually look at a x-pipe and a h-pipe, it is very hard to believe a x-pipe flows better than a H. My bassani x looks like the exhaust just crashs into the center of the X-part and doesn't look like a smooth transition. The H-pipe looks like the exhaust can just shoot right straight thru. But the X-pipes seem to be what guys want today. Today it's chocolate, tomorrow it's strawberry. I really bet you will like the sound better with the catted X over the off-road X with bassani mufflers.

the problem I had with the bassani catted x was fitment. on my lowered car, I was draggin, scraping on a lot of things...most importantly pulling into my driveway.
I have the magnaflow with bbk catted h pipe on now. Unfortunately, doesn't sounds nearly as good, but the fit is a lot better. Everything is tucked under and I'm not scraping anything...trade-offs.
