Gauges look great, I've got the Cobalt series as well but I'll need a WB O2 sensor as well, gonna have to find somewhere to mount it.

How did you get your dash gauges blue? I'm guessing there is a green film on the inside of the gauges and you just replaced it with some blue?

hey good job with the install, glad to hear you;ve worked out a lot of the bugs and are now enjoying the car. sry im a bit late to post but i got a few questions too as this has always seemed like a project id like to get into with my next stang.

how many miles does the explyer motor have

how much did you pay for it

and how did you know what size tubing to use from the turbos to the i/c and so on?

Lets see...the exploder motor has ~ 60k on it. I bought it for ~ $550...and I turned around and sold the upper intake for $200. Hell...after my recent headswap I sold the gt40p's for $250.

As far as sizes go...I researched the hell out of the whole combo. Turbomustangs.com has a huge database you can search through (key word being search). I try not to ask to many questions over there though as there tend to be many a-holes who bitch about it.

yah i kinda figured that about them. i just went over there and it seens like they get irratated when people ask question because of the huge amounts of write ups they have. what made go with twins instead of just a single turbo?

Well, the turbo's seem to be somewhat plentyfull...fairly cheap and seem easy to rebuild. The hot side is much easier to fabricate...although the cold side is a bit more difficult. In the end it really doesnt matter...as both twins and singles can put out wicked levels of h/p.

They are non-adjustable, so they are set to whatever the stock setting is. With the gt40p heads that translated into 8lbs of boost without a boost controller. With the trick flow heads I suspect the boost will go down to between 4 & 6 lbs (due to the better head flow numbers).

It will be cool to see the difference with the trick flows. You are already making "mad power". Also, since I have GT40Ps now I can evaluate the upgrade.......
Two 8# wastegates does not equal 16# of boost. Think of it simple: the wastegate is just a pressure operated diaphram. The ENTIRE system feels the boost since however many turbos there are, there is only one engine/intake. So as your turbos spool up the sytsem gets pressurized. EACH waste gate will feel about the same pressure off the compressor outlet line. So when the pressure reaches 8#, they will both push open and release to regulate the system pressure at 8.
If you plumb them to the intake instead, there is pressure drop so they can be fooled into opening at a higher compressor outlet pressure. But the wastegate settings are still not additive.

I hear ya…our combo's have been quite similar it seems since day one.

For now I'm tuning the damn megasquirt with the wastegates disconnected. Until I get a good base tune and figure out what the hell I'm doing….boost will not be an option.

On to the cold side...

This is how the two turbo's come together before the intercooler

And on to the intercooler...

And the turbo drain (sence been updated with welded bungs & push-loc hose & fittings...

You can see my old oil feed setup in this image. I've sence tapped the main logg and switched to push-loc fittings for a cleaner look.

And here is the latest pic I have of the setup...again, it's now a bit cleaner and has an updated oil feed and drain setup.

Here is the dyno results...

And the link to a few of my latest vids...

Nice setup and numbers. What does your exhaust consist of post downpipes? It almost sounds like is just piped out the back sans mufflers...Cool vids, it looks like things get interesting pretty fast once boost hits.

Millhouse, what vesion of MS do you run, and does it control the AIC valve? Do you have any idle issues from cold to hot? Watching your AF guage under cruise and WOT, it looks like you have that tune nailed down pretty well.

I'm running the high_res version of MSNS-E…and I am now controlling the IAC valve. During the spring/summer/fall it starts very quickly and idles well….although I don't have the IAC settings nailed down yet so I end up having my idle set a bit high (900-950rpm range). I still have some tweaking to do with my AFR's…although they are pretty darn close to what I want them to be (thanks for noticing).

i am running MSNS-E where did you get the High res version? and is it better for idle and iac control. i wished you lived by me to help me fine tune mine for idle and cold start that is the hardest part. it idle ok when warm but wants to stall when cold. if you get a chance if you can send me your file so i can take a look at some of your after start and warm up wizard settings i think that is where my problem is.

You can get it here... http://www.msextra.com/viewtopic.php?t=25336

If your idle pulse widths are anywhere around 3.0ms or below...it will absolutely help with better idle quality (IAC control remains the same). You will want to scale your VE table (adjust req_fuel and recalculate table) so that your high load/rpm area is a higher number (above 200 is good). This will give you a smoother table and allow you to make finer adjustments.

Unfortunately I don't have my .msq ready right now to send you. I will say that my cold starts are not the best (under 40*), but everything above that seems pretty good. I just haven't had a chance to fine tune it this year.

It will help with smoothing out the VE table...and making finer adjustments, but it will not give you the finer resolution needed at lower pulsewidths.

The next time I get on my other computer I'll see if I can't find the .msq for you. Keep in mind, it will be for reference only...as there will be quite a few differences between your and my setup.

I actually swapped over to a turbocoupe pcv valve along with 2 baffled valve cover breathers. I only switched in attempt to cure the dipstick tube blowing out....but I believe the actual cause was valve stem seals (which I changed out at the same time).

millhouse- couple of quick ???? First I assume you had to swap out the stock p/s for a different year? Also no chance that you could run a/c if you wanted to ?
