Stay away, far away!

I can't vouch for their motor building abilities but if it's are anything like their tuning abilities I wouldn't touch them with a 20ft pole.

They managed to "Tune" a 97 cobra motor with cams, ported s/r intake, stock B heads, and 21 psi comming through a Novi 2000 to a measily 500whp. They tuned it so pig rich that it smoked black everywhere, the wideband wouldn't even register the A/F and it got a measily 4-5mpg, all while washing out the cylinders, and absolutley killing the drivability of the car. Oh yea, they didn't even know what and EECTuner was when they pulled it from the PCM.

The car was sent back for a retune where it sat for nearly 2 months before they even touched it. Went to pick the car up and got charged $200 to replace some new plug wires (The ones it had were new), plugs, and O2 sensors. They didn't even put matching plug wires on it (2 #8 wires) and they looked horrible.

Another vote for stay away. I bought a motor (347 stroker) from them and it smoked like it was burning coal. It burned up to two quarts of oil a week and I drive 12 miles round trip to work. It was one of the worst experiences I have had with my car. They didn't even tune it. No computer chip, fuel pressure wasn't changed and I don't even think the timing was adjusted properly.

They sold me a "seasoned engine" other words used and not only used worn out would be a better term. After the second rebuilt, at their expense, now everything is fine. This has been almost four years ago and I will NEVER go back to them.

You woud be better off finding a local builder or one of the big companies CHP, Bennett or D.S.S.

I just had a similar experience with them building a motor for me.

Stay away. I wouldn't even buy a bolt from them.

The installed my 4.10 gears a couple years ago and they whine like crazy and refused to correct the ####ty install. I upgraded to a spool and 33 spline axles recently and got to see the retarded ass work they do. The guy that built my rearend couldnt believe what he saw when he opened it up.

i would advise going else where to buy a motor. i wont get into details about it but it would be better to take your money and set it on fire while watching it burn...cause all you will do is loose it dealing with that place. the thing is they used to be really good but now they break and screw up cars/trucks more than anything.

True, but when 7 of the 8 posts say to stay far away the poster should proably listen and find another engine builder.

id like to know who put that motor together?!?! either somebody didnt check the tolerances or they didnt know what the heck they were doing. also whats up with the round port gaskets and square ports on the heads. to me it looks like one of Delks famous motors!!! so once again i wouldnt let them touch anything on my car.

From Murfreesboro, get on the I-24 to Chattanooga and once there, turn south on the I-75 and drive to North Atlanta to Modular Powerhouse in Cartersville. It's a bit more than 2 hours from M-boro.

well the new place has been around for like..5-6 years i think. so not really new. the shop is down the road from Nashville Super Speedway and Brent gave me a tour right after they opened up. ive heard so much crap how they strip threads for the intake, exhaust, and where the rockers go!! also from what ive heard that even if they do the work they try and put it off on the owner since it ran fine when it left the shop. the REAL funny story i heard was how a guy dropped off his 03-04 cobra to get it tuned for a shot of NOS and after they tuned it took it down the road blew the motor and said sorry but we can get you a new motor for 10 grand plus labor!!

Avoid them like the plague!!! I totally wasted several thousand dollars there only to be treated like crap afterward. Not to mention they never could get my tune right.

not every shop is 100% all the time but what really got me was calling asking if such and such parts where in and them saying yeah they are here me driving 70 miles to get there and them telling me no they havent came in or the O WE JUST SOLD IT!!!! a BIG WTF!!! what done it in for me when i needed a stall converter and they were local so if i had problems i could handle it with them face to face. i called spoke to Jon and he got all the info for what i wanted and he told me he would call me back.i called at 9am that morning..well i waited to 3 pm to call back and some SOB told me hes with another cuctomer and i can try later. i told him that he was supposed to get me a price and i would give them my CC number cause i needed the part ASAP. well he put me on hold for 10 mins and came back and said HE SAID HE WOULD CALL YOU BACK! then hung up on me. no later good bye or suck my dick just flat out hung up on me. so all in all ..jon heith brent and the rest of those F-en retards can eat my ass with a wooden spoon!! that goes to show when you have been doing business with a company for over 7 yrs and told everybody you could think of to try them ..they are higher priced than must places but they treat you right and they treat you like that.

I hate to read all these stories about Delk. I remember when they were doing business from behind their house in Murfreesboro and then the new shop in Lebanon. I have experienced the "we have the part and will hold it for you" then I drive 80 miles to get it only to have to fight another customer who was promised the same part. I have also been given one price and arrived with a whole club of cars for a dyno day and then having the price changed. I really did trust these guys and have given them tons of business over the years but I quit messing around with them recently. Too many horror stories with tuning or racing their customers cars at the track without their permission, etc.... I really liked Brentt, Heath, John and Nicky! I hope they get their stuff together. They have always been good people. It is ashamed to see such a good business make a turn for the worse. I had heard that they had hired a couple bad apples for help years ago but fired them. It seems that the bad business ethics continue though. Cheers...........

some of the things i said were rude but everytime i think about some of the crap i put up with from them gets me steamed!! lol i used to go up there yrs ago and buy parts once a week at the old place. i had them some what tune my old 90 model gt and it ran GREAT but 2 weeks later the motor let go. i cant blame that on them i ran that motor into the ground every night. i think some of them bad apples are still there. you do the work right treat people right and they would have a better rep than they do. i wish them the best but i will never have anything to do with Delks again.

Oh don't get me wrong, I am sure all that is in this tread is true! I just hate that Delk has this reputation after dealing with them myself for years. They were also one of our clubs sponsors. I also knew something was up when my friend who ran in NMRA and sponsored by Delk had issues with them. I was really shocked by that considering the relationship with them that he had.

i agree it really does suck that they turned out like they did. i always liked how if i had a question i could call and ask them. they used to cut me deals or knocked a little off cause i did all my buying from them. so now its summit but i hate calling and waiting 3 days for it to show up...that is if it shows up on time! ill just have to find me a closer shop to tune my car when i get a motor back in it. good thing i drive a roll back for work.
