Yup, they cut the wheel off. No shyt.

The OP may have been a spaz, but the suggestions for getting the stud out were as bad or worse.

LOL, when I had a veeDub, back in the 70's, the monkeys at the car parts store had never seen studs, so they set their impact wrenches on "kill" and nearly coldwelded them in.

Of course the rotors were warped in days, but when I went to take a tire off I had to use a cheater on the VW lug wrench... and the wrench broke.

I wasn't dumb enough to cut off the wheel, though.

Indeed, a sawzall is a wonderful tool. Never considered it for removing wheels though - that's one more item in it's bag of tricks.

Wheel bolts, on the other hand, lots of other ways to deal with those....

Apparently he tried, but after he broke the titanium tap. He got a verdict of "too dumb to rip off."

Just because a drill bit is gold, does not make it brass...

Get a single carbide bit with some bit lube. It would have gone right through all that, good god. Problem solving skills are not strong with this one.

Okay I'll own up to using a sawall to cut off the rear upper and lower control arm off my mustang when the bolts would not come out of the bushing sleeves after 25 years of salt and water...I was replacing the arms anyway.

You haven't seen stupid until you've seen a junkyard worker cut off a gas-charged strut with a grinding wheel.

I've seen the lugs get bad from over torquing but that guy was beyond stupid. Usually a few taps on an extention, lube and a long cheater bar do the trick.
