Supra or 03 Cobra?

I am going to pick up a toy this fall and I am not sure which one to get but it will be one of these. I have a good amount of time to make the right choice but which one would you choose and why?

03-04 Cobra " The Terminator "

93-97 TT Supra " The King "

Hard decision, but ever since I've seen this video, I wouldn't mind one. I'll take mine with a targa top and wingless please.

Kinda depends on if you want ridiculous top end horsepower or gobs of lower-end torque. The two cars are both very powerful, but in completely different ways. Just depends on your driving style and how you plan to use the car.

Please....for the love of God...that Supra kinda makes my skin crawl. I'd rather see any guy...even an ugly one...in a Termi.

(of course...not saying anyone's ugly....just saying I like the Termi MUCH, MUCH better!!)

agreed. 2 different beasts.. I wanted to build a Supra years ago to race the Texas mile but gave up on it when I found out how mutch you have to spend to build a Titan shortblock(20 k) and Tilton clutch(5 grand) .. But anyway the Turbo lag is a pain to deal with some times when you want the instant torque feeling. the cobra is an 11 second machine with just a few bolt ons. I believe a Supra holds the Texas mile current record at 246 mph...just beat out a black turbo 996

I couldn't care less if I really devoted a year to what they'll do on a drag strip, but I don't like japanese cars so i'd go with the cobra.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. Supra's are dyno queens, but real world the aren't that special. What the point of a 500-700hp car that doesn't hit full boost until 100mph.

There was a video a few years ago from a local guy with about 550hp running a Supra claiming 650+. Race didn't even start to get close until like 110 when it started hitting full boost.

I enjoy street light performance, and 1/4 mile performance...not what it will do in the mile.

Parts are stupid expensive on those too, you could build two termi's for the price of a well built Supra.

There has never been a body kit that looks good on a Supra. Aftermarket wheels are fine but IMO it is unwise to play with the rest of the cars appearance. Given a choice between a Cobra or Supra I get the Supra. Treminators will always be worth something of course but the Supra will always be worth more.

I totally agree with this. Dont get me wrong both cars are sick but i say go with the termi. You can get a nice one for 20k put a pulley and exhaust on it and beat just about anything you will come up to on the street.

well seeing as this is a mustang forum I'm sure you're going to get quite the biased opinion haha..

I personally say if you can get either one already modded the way you want it than go that route.. I like supras a bit more only for the fact that they're not EVERYWHERE.. and seeing one is like seeing an exotic around my area.. But than again cobra's are hot cars as well.. so it's a toss up. Like I said which ever you can find the better deal on.

I love supras myself. Not over a terminator, But I love them. I don't understand the video very much. boost logic sticker. where's the logic when your turbo is so big it doesn't spool until nearly 7k, with a 8500-9000k redline?
i'd put a more streetable turbo on it, instead of lag lag lag lag lag lag lag lag boost.
LOL. Can you imagine that car in a legitimate race... a terminator would be at the next offramp before it spooled. Ok maybe i'm exaggerating, but still, you get the idea.

03-04 Termi's are my favorite and one day I will own one. Supra's are amazing cars, but The Terminator holds a spot in my heart. I'd say the Termi.

from personal exp.......

i raced a few well modded supras at the local strip in my termi and mach.....

ok yes, all the supras i lined up with would have easily handed me my ass from a roll or 1/2 mile....i spanked them all pretty much left and right in the 1320.

so what if their trap speeds are 125+.....it really didnt prove much to me when i was about a car length ahead when i crossed the line.

the line, "lag lag lag lag lag lag lag boost" hits it dead on....

yes they were all reelin me in like a dead fish after the 1000ft mark but, it didnt do them any good to have a dyno sheet stating they made 600+rwhp when a more or less stock termi skinned them up pretty bad.

i ran consistant 12.15's or lower in my mach (once i broke the 11.99 mark they made me leave the track until i had proper gear) they all cried up and down that once we left they would be laughin at me on the highway if they saw me, mainly one punk (some kid from buffalo ny, with a 750rwhp supra). my response to all that babble was, "and ill be laughing and honkin when you get pulled over for bein a meathead".

yes the supras are ANIMALS, bottom line......BUT, will only do so from a decent roll or high rpms.

if you want something you can say "hey guys look at my dyno sheet" then get a supra. it will only prove something there when it has race fuel, doesnt need to worry about traction, turbo is already spooled, etc....

but, if you want something you can say "hey guys look at my dyno sheet, and it backs it up too" then get the termi. it can do it on the dyno, at the track, doesnt need race fuel (unless you plan on going overboard), doesnt need to spool up the power is there ON DEMAND

yes this is a mustang forum however, there are quite a few supra fans on here. im one myself but, just wouldnt want a 6,000+rpm spool drooler

A 'stang will never handle like the Supra. I'd say the supra will be an overall better car. How about a 996tt? Since you like turbo cars.

Yup.

I mean the Supra is neat, but I dunno.... I couldn't imagine walking up to it more than a few days in a row and having to drive it. Meh.

I test drove both of them today.. The whippled Termi was out of control scary fast!! It felt so brute and powerful but he had kooks headers that made the car shake kinda bad. The Supra had no low end power like the Termi did but when I got on the highway I thought my brain was trying to fly out the back of my head the pull was so hard.. I will do a better write up I just have to run out the door right now. I will type up more when I get back.

How did you fit in the Supra? The one I sat in I felt uncomfortable as hell, but the guy had some weird almost molded to his ass racing seat.

Relax, and don't get your panties in a bunch. They are fast, but what ungodly amount of money was spent on them. I just don't think they are as great as people make them out to be. Noticed both were running nitrous too, if I remember my turbo days well enough, nitrous tends to help with lag.

The Supra has a lot more leg room then the Cobra has and the seats were also better then the Cobra. The Cobra whipple whine was awsome but the shaking was just too much. Is that common for kooks headers to cause that?

I would go with the supra. My buddy had a BPU and that thing was a blast once it got moving. Also the supra will hold its value much better than the cobra.

i have yet to ride in a modified supra that has a nice balance of power, and not the,

"wait for it....................keep waiting....................still waiting..................wait for it...............................keep waiting you bitch..............70mph..................BOOM BLOW THE TIRES OFF!

I dunno. For general fun on the street the Cobra is going to have the grunt that a Supra won't. The good thing about the Supra is that if you want to get rid of it, people will fly across the country to buy it for what you have tied up in it or more. Terminators command a good bit, but even they have taken a hit with the economy. There are a lot of people out there who will pay out the nose for a Supra.

Honestly though, I would be kind of concerned about someone always trying to steal my car if I had the Supra. Sure the Cobra is valuable too but isn't as hard to find.
