I guess it's up to brand loyalty with those numbers. To be sure, neither head is a turd. Prices are very comparable. I do like the lighter-weight valvetrain in the XTs.

Yup, its kinda hard to argue numbers when for one, they are the manufacturer's numbers, they were done on different benches, at different times. All three companies (AFR, Edelbrock, TF) knows their ####, And I would not have a problem with any of them on my car. If you really wanted to test em, get all three, flow them on the same bench, with the same setup, and then run them on the same mota. Then you will get some numbers we can talk about. Kinda like MM&FF did a while back. Seems like AFR won in almost all the competitions though. That said, I am partial to AFR

these heads made me curious so i started poking around. i got to looking at an eddy catalog from 2007 and they have a head listed, part #51309 and called the pro- port cnc 190.
fully cnc'd intake, exhaust and chamber (60cc) 18° valves 2.02/1.60 and the flow numbers are suspiciously similar to the new xt heads. the only real difference i see is the addition of the 8mm valves and the beehives. unfortunately, i can't find these part numbers any where other than the old catalog. flow data as per vic's 2007 catalog lift intake exhaust .1 77 60 .2 147 115 .3 212 165 .4 259 192 .5 284 203 .6 293 207 .7 285 209 those look like pretty good flow numbers for a 190 cc head. anybody know anything else about these? if they are a discontinued head and you can find them cheap, might be a budget xt head in the making

a little further investigation has lead me to believe the xt's are not fully cnc'd like the pro ports either. and it looks like the xt's use a 1.57 exhaust valve. makes me that much more curious about these pro ports...
calling edelbrock

bummer...according to "art" at edelbrock, the 51309 were in fact discontinued as a result of the release of the xt. according to him, the newer xt makes more power than the 51309 despite its smaller exhaust valve and slightly lower flow numbers.... go figure.

You ever gonna spill the beans on your cams .050 numbers? Grind#? I replaced my heads and intake, converted to a Fox TB setup and added 1-3/4 LTs after I saw your car in 5.0. I'm making decent power, but I want to be sure I'm not leaving anything on the table with my puny TFS2 cam. Your track clips sounded a bit more choppy than my car.

Sigh! Maybe a PM and I'll never breathe (or otherwise disclose) a word? :-)
A TFS2 total duration is 286 int./294 exh. 224/232@0.050. 0.542/0.563 lift. Can I expect to be even close to your numbers or do I need to go for something with significantly more duration? Are you running 1-5/8 or 1-3/4 LTs? Like it or not, you're my new mentor! ;-)
