Tork Tech intercooled M112 kit
I was going to go the Vortech SQ S trim route but I really like the Idea of having an intercooled positive displacement supercharger. I am having second thoughts after I seen the M112 kit that Tork Tech is selling http://torktech.com/. A few years back I had the chance to test drive an 01 Roush 360R and I loved the pull that car had, even with 3.27’s that car ran hard and I only seen 5 psi, I think it had an M90 it was like driving a big block muscle car that handled. I would buy the tuner kit and separately buy 60# injectors, an SCT 90mm, SVT Focus fuel pump and an SCT programmer and pulley it for 8-10 psi along with a dyno tune. The only thing about this route is that it will not clear the stock hood..Oh darn I’ll have to get a Cobra R hood. I think this kit is awesome, 8 rib separate drive pulley, a real nice TB and intake inlet, a nice size heat exchanger.
The M112 for a 2V debate has been brought up several times but now it really looks entertaining, the reliability of the M112 has been proven and if you think about it it’s the only supercharger that Ford will put on a vehicle and warrantee it. I think this would make a great running dependable daily street car that would see limited track time. I think the 4.6 SOHC needs low end boost that a centrifugal blower wouldn’t provide. Has anyone on this forum looked at this? Does anyone have it on their car?

I think that it's priced well for an intercooled supercharger. Procharger, Vortech and KB will set you back 5K for an intercooled supercharger.

i wish they would sell a version of that kit without the supercharger for much less money and the customer has to source their own charger
edit- nvm i am an idiot i see they do actually have that! sweet!

didnt see that, the price is around the same as a new vortech, the thing is tho you can find used vortechs for $1800-2400, thats how i got mine, if i had a chance to buy the torktech for that cheap i would prob consider it

I was just looking on e-bay at used Roush and Saleen M90 kits and they are going for $3500+, the Saleen one uses the accessory drive belt 6 rib and has a much smaller heat exchanger. I think a lot of people aren’t realizing how awesome the Tork Tech M112 is. The fact that it’s on it’s own drive belt 8 rib, a huge heat exchanger, and this M112 makes up to 50HP over a cobra Eaton. I am about to cash in my stock option for this thing, lol.

It seems like the supercharger-less option (the one where you use a stock cobra blower) is kinda pricey. $2k+ and you still have to supply most of the parts (injectors, fuel pump, tune, etc.)

Yeah, I'd rather have a brand new complete set up for $4,300

I've seen used cobra blowers anywhere from $300-600

The KB is not a little more it's a lot more when you add all of the options in that is already included in the Tork Tech kit. Besides I don't really like using the accessory drive belt to drive the SC. I really like the 8 rib separate drive belt set up. More power with the KB not really maybe more potential but both SC’s will split the block. In fact the Tork Tech Dyno sheets show me that it takes less boost with their kit to make the same power that the KB makes with more PSI.

If you want to debate price; consider that the KB 2.1 intercooled kit is $4999, and this kit is $4299. $700 in difference. Then take into account that the KB 2.1 kit will fit under the stock hood. That's $800-1000 right there for a new hood and paint, so it evens out. Unless you go with their cheesy looking extended scoop.
Also, where do you see boost numbers for their dyno sheet? I am on a laptop with a 15" screen, so perhaps you guys can see something I can't. Their dyno chart is really small. I do know that the non-intercooled KB 2.1 made 351/366 at 6psi and the 9psi intercooled kit made 405/427 according to Kenne Bell. http://www.kennebell.net/supercharge...2v/gt96-04.htm If I was sticking with 2v I would go all out for the KB 2.6H (or 2.8H from MPH). I'm just posting this info for comparison, for anyone debating which kit to go with.

I just posted this update in the other thread, but here are some new results..
Mustang Magic in NY just swapped an M90 blower out of a 99 Saleen and installed the standard Tork Tech kit. On pump gas, and at 12 pounds of boost the car made 495 rwhp and 488 rwt. The AIT never went over 145 after a ton of back to back pulls on the dyno. AFR was 11.3/1 Outside air temp was 93 degrees and 27% humidity. The pulley combination was a 7 inch lower and a 2.8 upper. Next Saturday they are installing a 9 inch lower which was shipped with the kit. Any guesses on power? Good parts in the engine of course. forged rods, pistons etc.

The magazines were in town, and an install was done on a BONE STOCK 99 GT from start to finish. At 9 pounds of boost (peak) here is a "bigger" dyno sheet to look at. It has the stock HP figures and the after curve.
http://home.fastspecialties.com/inde...=detail&id=342 That is with a stock 3.25 upper pulley, and a 7 inch lower. As far as the "cheezy" hood scoop is concerned, I would guess the average owner would not even notice it. It has an identical grill, and is made from a hi-impact poly urethane. No need for a brand new hood. Here is a picture of the car with the scoop in place, there was not time to get it painted to match, but if it was, it would look OEM. http://home.fastspecialties.com/imag...20MUSTANG1.JPG

if you read the reviews in several magazines the torktech setup has nothing but great reviews. I would no hesitate on buying one.

I do not know how the new company is going, but when he was running his old one, he was a good guy to deal with. I purchased several things from him and he was always good with the technical advice.
