Corral Day 2008 - Kentucky Vs Mississippi grudge match race, Pinks style, loose the race, loose your ride. The loosing car will be auctioned on eBay and all money will be contributed to Bill (ponybill) and Joey (speedfreak87) to help with the financial strain of the kidney transplant that took place on March 4th. The winning team will have the option of keeping the car and making a donation to the fund, or auctioning the car with the losing team's car. If the winning team keeps the car, they must return the car to next year's Corral Day to race the next state that steps up to the challenge. We are hoping to make this an annual Corral Day event.
We would like to thank everyone involved for their time and donations for helping us make this happen. Both teams are taking contributions in the way of parts, labor, and money. If you wish to donate you may contact HossRacing or GRTRANSPORT or Codeblue393gt with the Kentucky team.
This is the build documentation, general discussion thread for the build of the KY Team Mustang for Corral Day 2008. This is a benefit race for Bill & Joey.
We left Saturday, 3-22-08, around 12:00 to pick up this car. The car was listed in the Corral classifieds by FordLovinLady, she is a long time member of NMRA. She now works for Auto-Motion in Louisville, KY which is a Dyno/Performance shop. She was also kind enough to donate dyno time so we can tune the car.
The car was about a 60 mile ride from the shop. Doug at GR Transport went with me to pick up the car on his rollback. While on the way up another Corral member, rhj292, called and wanted to donate front lower control arms and rear upper control arms with polyurethane bushings. We stopped by his place on the way back and he wound up just donating the whole car. It's a 1993 triple white convertible shell, and about the only parts left on the car were the one mentioned above plus a fuel tank with an AM pump in it. We will either trade this car for parts, sell it for money for parts, or scrap it for money for parts.
Doug at GR Transport has donated the use of a shop bay with all the tools - welder, air comp, shop tools, pressure washer, etc.. - We got back to his place about 6:30 Sat night and started unloading the cars.
When we rolled the coupe in the shop this is what it looked like.
We started stripping the car down, after about an hour this is all the useful stuff we had found.
1 can of self etching primer, 1 roll of shop towels, 2 dust masks, 1 paint brush, 6 pcs of sandpaper, 1 pr of safety glasses, 3 roll lock pads, 2 tubes of something that eats skin, 1 wrench rack, 1 rusty screwdriver (Corral Day protection) and 4 pennies. Oh, and 1 stank pair of ass blown out tighty whities.
We'll be keeping those for Corral Day shenanigans. Warning to everyone volunteering labor on this car - these drawers have had more air time than Hank Jr. in the last 2 days. I have personally had them touch the side of my head. The next person that does that....... will die.

12:00 that night the car was pretty much gutted and weight reduction was well under way. The free can of primer has already been put to use. The 4 cents is in the donation jar.
I told him this was the best possible use of a chevy.
This was his response after I left.
Not funny.

Them that don't know him won't like him and them that do, sometimes won't know how to take him.
He ain't wrong, he's just different, but his pride won't let him do things, to make you think he's right.
Maybe expensive, but im sure KY lube would work as engine oil, well, for one run anyway.

If you want those I'll bring them to CD, I have a set of LX to put in there. It's being put on a diet, we started lightening it Sat, we removed all of the sound deadener tonight. Tomorrow night it will be completely stripped and we are going to roll it outside & take the hot water pressure washer to it.

The body is 98% perfect, there are a couple small scratches and the paint is complete oxidation but there's hardly a spot of rust anywhere.
I gotta call her tommorrow, I'm def going to ask about the funky ass drawers. They will be on the first persons head that passes out at CD, Dave you have been warned.

you miss. guys might wanna watch out. the KY guys probably have track access. you could be sabotaged before you even show up. instead of spraying your lane with VHT they might fill the sprayer up with some KY.

B-Rad from Sipi called out members to build and race a car at Corral Day, the car(s) will then be auctioned on eBay and all proceeds will go to Bill & Joey. KY = Kentucky not jelly. Although after this thread they may sponsor us.
So, as you see, we are building a car to race them sipi boys. Parts and donations are rolling in, but I am still trying to find a major sponsor/contributor so we can get some real attention in the race world. The more people that know about this, the more people will be at Corral Day to support it, the more $$ we get for the car for Bill & Joey.

Whether or not KY lube ends up sponsoring, there logo definately needs to be painted, or atleast a vynil, on the hood.
