We've gone 5.90s at 117 in the 1/8 on a stock block 306 with twisted wedge heads and a T-76, but it only lasted about 40 passes. After that it split the front journal and bent the crank.

Congratulations, nice work, and I wish you the best in your quest for 8s. Saw a post on Tampa Racing, looks like a Level 20 Pro Bullet 306 if I'm not mistaken.
Where's Kato?

i helped Adam with parts selections for that car, i was the only one that told him his car had the capability of running what it has, and it even surprised me some...its defintiely a DSS built 306 in a factory roller block, unported victor jr's, c-4 tranny, blow thru carb, afm cam...very basic set up, and like they said earlier, has very very few passes on it, it will run an 8 for certain if we can get the 60 ft to come back where it should be, but we discussed it tonight and we think we have it figured out..the car went 5.87 or so at 122mph in the 1/8 with only a 1.42 60ft, the car has been 1.35

Oh this is great, i am seeing more and more stock blocked mustang running great numbers. All i want is a low 11 second car with my Nov2k and Track heat heads/Intake combo with a stock block and cam. Majority of the engine builders keep telling me i have to go dart for it to be reliable.

Your not paying attention. A turbo builds its power off idle, and the RPM window is near zero for these cars to make the power they do, and run the numbers they do. There is also no side load (flex) induced in the crank tightening a blower pully.
Centrifugal blowers add all the things that are block killers. HP, RPM, and side load.... because a turbo car can, doesn't mean you can. Your going to pop a block long long long before a turbo car. The blower doesn't build boost and or HP till peak RPM. Your need for speed is going to stress that stock block well below 500 (Crank HP). |
