It's a love it or hate it thing. Mine spent the summer satin black. Personally I like it, but I had planning to paint it over the winter though. I'll tell you one thing though. If you do it you'll have to start punching girls. Practically every female that sees it says one of the following....

"Hey, when you gonna paint your Mustang?"

Or

"Yuck, it's not shiney"

my favorite right after I spent months getting my new combo together. Drive it to work and hear...

"your car is ugly as #####"

Must be an estrogen thing I guess? Women suck.

Some people say "Shine is fine, but flat is where its at!" LOL I like both painted and flat, but if its flat it depends whats its on and how its done!!

flat paint

We painted my harley in a flat color, to do this we went to NAPA and bought the paint in a base coat/clear coat system. We sprayed the base as usual and then we put a flattener in the clear coat to kill the shine. You can go from slightly flat to totally flat on the shine but you still have the sealing and protection from the clear coat. Hope this helps.

I dig the flat and satin look. I've had Mustangs since 91 and every car show/gathering Ive been to it seems everyones car looks the same. In fact I'm anti "nice and shiny" and love to see Mustangs that look different.
If you google satin black or what ever you will see some high end cars murdered out these days.
Although you cant beat this flat black:

That 500 is freakin awesome! I love the look.

It was actually the MTV show Rod & Big that inspired me to do the "Murdered Out" black on black look for my '86. It was when Big got the Pinto and die it in a satin black.

KAILUAZ:

I'm lovin' the FOX. That level of buildup is just about what I consider perfect for a "Daily Driven Streeet Car".

Damn, can Big Black fit in that thing. lol... Go to American muscle's site, to wheels, 79-93, click on the black cobra wheels at the bottom, and there's a pic of a flat black Hatchback. There's also some sweet pics of other customer cars.
