04 Cobra-- What does the up arrow mean??

Finally picked up the '04 cobra 'vert. Didn't come with the Cobra specific owner's guide, and i was wondering what the flashing arrow means in the instrument panel. No not the turn signals, i'm not that bad. It points up. Is it a shift light? Or do i need to take it back and have it looked at? It's orange in color. Oh, and no engine tick by the way. She's also a 1 owner,20k mi. and doesn't do the tranny clunk in first, definitely baby'd. Any shifter recommendations would be great also, Tri-ax or Pro 5.0? that stocker has gotta go.

There does however seem to be a clicking, right off center in the steering wheel. Is that a normal cobra thing?? I'm going to take it back to the dealer tomorrow for a new chin spoiler so i'll have them look at it. I can't imagine the rack or steering shaft would be bad with such low miles.

the up arrow is a light that comes on telling you when to shift in order to get the best possible gas milage. my old pontiac had it too. who knows why it is only on the 03/04 cobras???

from the manual:
"Upshift
Illuminates when it is best to shift to the next highest manual transmission gear for the maximum fuel economy."

Hmm...I thought that hadn't made it into production. The cars were going to have them to get a different EPA rating or what have you but got better efficiency than expected and didn't require the upshift light.

coll, thanks for all the responses. So i get the rack and everything replaced on mon. that should hopefully cure it, if not it'll keep going back til it's right, 3x's or more here in FL. it becomes lemon law. I'd hate to get into all that though.

You can turn off the shift light with a tuner if it bugs you.
