The lower control arm mount on the 86-98 rear is 12mm where the 99-04 is 14mm. You will have to either drill it out to fit the 14mm bolt or run a hybrid LCA with a 14mm front bushing to fit the body and a 12mm rear bushing to fit the rear.

FYI, the 86-93 and 94-98 housings are the same. The 94-98s axle flange to axle flange measurement bieng wider is due to slightly longer axles to fit the disk brakes.

Just make sure to order the correct axles for your brake set up.

I have a fox housing with all the sn95 brakes and sn95 moser axles in my 96.

Ive been thinking about doing a 94-98 8.8 in my 03 to do the same thing you are.

I put a '90 8.8 rear in my old '00 V6. I drilled the mount out.

17x10.5 wheels in the rear with 315 sized Nitto DR's.

You can use the 86-93 but they have drums. If you want disks, you will have to swap disks onto it. I's much easier to use a 94-98.

The wheels will definately fit better. Just not sure if the 4.5" B.S wheel will pull all the way in.

Well I was told if when you put an 8.8 thats drum and put disk on it it makes it wider. Im needin all the room I can get. If I do ues a rear with drums will if work just losing some stoping capabilities.

It was rear disk, I swapped everything over from the old 7.5 rear end.

There are ways to retain your disk brakes but not push the wheels out. Fox guys do it all the time.

http://northracecars.com/Brakes.html

Basically you need a set of those brackets for a GT, and a set of 5-lug fox-lenght axles. Then you simply bolt on your stock brake components and you now have rear disk, but keep the same axle width as if you had the drums.

Downside is you will lost your ABS since you can't mount the exciter rings...but you would have lost that with the drums anyway.

I know for a fact that the 94-98 rears are 3/4" shorter on each side. I had to run one in my 2000 as a bandaid and i hated the fact that my 10.5" rims tucked back in to almost the stock location.

My advise would be to take measurements.

FX track is 59.5, SN95 94 to 98 is 61 and New Edge 99 to 04 is 62 1/8 (pretty sure about the numbers but not positive), so it is more like a half inch than 3/4 but on the car that would make a noticable difference. Just trying to get the right info out there. 5L5 thanks for the link, cheers Richard. www.northracecars.com
