1986 5.0 clutch suggestions

Over the winter, I want to replace my clutch. I'm pretty much set on Ram's HDX Clutch. I'm not sure on what flywheel to use though? Use the stock Clutch cable or buy Steeda's adjustable? I will be using FRPP Pilot Retainer and Pilot Bearing.

My car is a simple TFS H/C/I modded car with 3.73's...not sure on the rwhp. It is mainly a nice weather street car with occasional track duty. It might get a 100 shot of juice down the road.

This will be my 1st clutch install...so any useful tricks or hints would be aprreciated.

Thanks,
John

If you have a T5 in the car, be careful on the clutch selection. You will do better with a soft hitting clutch.

I had a king cobra on my mostly stock setup, worked great for nice weather driving and a few drag passes. Lasted a bit with my 331, but I could tell it was wanting to slip. I now have a spec stage 2+ with their light weight flywheel on it and I'm running a 200 shot of spray on my stroker, GREAT clutch, not TOO aggressive for fun street driving, but plenty strong for spraying on the strip too! I would recommend a spec to anyone. My pedal feel isn;t any different than the King Cobra either. Also may I note that I'm running a UPR adjustable quadrant, but I added that after the King Cobra.

If you are changing clutch cables get the Maximum Motorsports OEM cable, its the best out there. Do you use the stock quadrant now? MM sells a kit that has everything if you need a quadrant, cable and firewall adjuster.

Yes...I have a T5. The Spec line (stg 1, 2, 3) is a good durable line. I'm looking for a clutch that would last with proper driving....lol. This car will mainly be for the street, but I do get on it.

What type of flywheel would you buy, steel or aluminum ?? for a street car.

Sorry, never really experienced with clutches before, usually always had stockers.
