How fast before Automatic???

I am running a 347 NA making about 455 HP. Feel like the T-5 is holding me back.
Best run to date is an 11.78 @ 116.89mph with a 1.68 short time.

Still have stock axles, so I'm taking it easy on the launch.

The tranny has all the World class upgrades, but it doesn't feel very good.

How fast did you guys run your t-5's??

I street drive the car, but I suppose I can always step up to the c-4.

I also have a Hitman Plus plate kit, but I highly doubt the tranny will hold up to it.

Thanks!!!

Your definatly leaving alot of ET and MPH on the table. My 347 in my sig made 420rwhp/400rwtq threw a tremec 3550. It went a best of a 10,84 at 124 n/a with a 1.48 60'. I went many 10.30's @132 on a 150 shot with it before I hurt it missing a shift. I now run a C4 setup.

Get a good 5sp (tremec 3550/tko/500/600) and some good axles....then let it eat.

this is my stock t5..my 3rd gear is rather weak, so I take it easy on that gear. You want to be consistent like a bracket car, go auto. Bang some gears at the track, or around town driving, go with the 5 speed. I just like rowing the gears and having fun. Its all up to you. Do you feel like rowing through the gears?

Forsure an automatic is faster, but to see a 2 sec difference... I think the driver was not good with a manual...

My goal is to get bored running 10's with a 5 speed before i decide to switch to an auto. My combo screams auto.

2 second difference is because the driver was horrible.
Those arent real world before and after #'s
Some drivers with sticks can run almost as fast as autos but some people just dont have the knack for shifting so they go the easy route and put an auto in

I would say for me and you, maybe half of a second faster, if we bang the gears like no tomorrow with the manual...

I totally agree with some of the posts above, if you're picking up over .2 just from stick to auto, you're a bad driver. Both of my cars are stickshifts...a 9.40 race car and a 10.90 street car. I can run within .02-.04 every pass on the same day. The autos being consistent doesnt have anything to do with it..I have seen some auto's that wasnt consistent... The Consistency is in the DRIVER!!

I totally agree!!! I ran the nmca/nsca efi elliminator for years with a stick finished 3rd in points in 2003 with a stick. Won several local bracket races with a stick to help pay for the national stuff the DRIVER is a HUGE varable when it comes to a stick car!! And the proper clutch set up helps too, the strongest isnt always the fastest!

Right!!!! If you cant drive a stick, You CANT DRIVE!!!!! Im sure some idiot will argue this...BUTTT, if ur not quick enough to shift it, then u aint quick enough to steer it!!! And sure you can drive "normal", like every other idiot on the road, but you cant drive it like some "us" can...And to "US" that isn't DRIVIN'!

Isn't wonderbreads car proshifted? Kinda kills the streetable 5-speed theory.

Here an in car vid of me with my 5 speed. No dog rings, proshifted, heli cut gears here. Just fast foot/hand work.

Don't mind the super slow 2-3 cause it was a new tranny and I had surgery on my elbow 2 days later. I can pull on the stick but it hurts like hell anytime I had to push it. But I normally shift the 2-3 just as fast. At the end of the run I was able to get a decent 2-3 in.

X2 May not have been 2 full sec difference but even to go from 12.10 to 10.90 is still a stretch.
