I'm excited to see results from the new Trick flow heads on the 5.4l.
I think the head is to much for a 281c.i. engine, but just right for a 330c.i. Will be interesting to see how many die hard 4.6l guys go 5.4l |

Here was ideally what i wanted to do. NPI bottom(forged crank), flat top pistons, better rods, my ported PI heads, Hardballr intake, XE278AH, stock manifolds. Id like to run a 125 wet shot but i know ill need a better pistons for that. Hopefully the intake and cam can move the power up further so i can still use my 3,500 converter. Id hate to take it out just to drop it down to a 2,800.

It is roughly 50-60 extra lbs on the front end. The only place I really "feel" a diffeence is on the racetrack. The car has a bit more understeer now. As far as upgrades to the spings and dampers (there is no "n"), you should be fine with what you have. Even with the stock 450#/in springs, an additional 50# load on the two front springs will yield an additional 0.05" drop. I plan to eventually upgrade to the Maximum Motorsports K-member as well as move the battery to the trunk. That should more than offset the weight difference.

My bad on the "dampner". I think its just the lazy way every one talks. That sneeky N found its way in there. Good info. I was worried because im already lowered. And i think the only aluminum block they made was for the GT and GT500, right? A guy wanted $3,000 for a bare block on ebay.

The only aluminum 5.4 block is the FordGT and it's only setup for a dry sump. The Shelby uses the same iron 5.4 as the rest of the world.

Ahhh, ok.
I was tossing this idea around too. Sticking with my SCT Xcal2 hand held or swapping over to Mega Squirt. I havent done my homework yet on all the details of Mega but it looks like you can get into some nitty gritty tuning with it. |
