Which caliper seals for Cobra PBR's?

I have a set of Cobra calipers that need seals. They are used and I was told they are from an 03', although I dont see any part numbers to verify it. I measured the pistons which are 38mm exactly.

In looking at seal kits, two are listed. One is for 94-98 calipers and the other for 99-04. Will any of them work, or are there differences? I know some later calipers have 40mm pistons... I was thinking of going with the 94-98 kit since they should be 38mm. Thanks...

94-04 CObra calipers are all the same. 99-04 GT/V6 has 42 mm dual piston calipers.

not true, atleast not from where I sit;
while the caliper itself maybe the same the pistons are different on 1999 to 2004 vs 1994 to 1998's

Now I'm even more confused, ha..

If Ive got 38mm pistons, what year am I looking at? Are there other markings I can use to determine the year? Thanks again...

I have both calipers handy.

94-98 use a 38mm piston, 99-04 use a 40mm piston. Since the piston is larger, PBR had to remove some of the "cooling fins" off the 94-98 calipers.

These calipers were used on other cars as well, but below is a 94-98 caliper on the left ('98 Cobra) and a 99-04 caliper on the right (Mach 1)

AWESOME!!!! Thanks so much for the pics, that helps alot!

Looks like I have the 94-98 version, as mine have the ribbed piston housings and 38mm pistons, just like the red caliper.

Do you have any experience replacing piston seals on these? Im wondering how much of a PITA it is....

One more thing... Do you happen to have a pic of the caliper mounted to the bracket? Mine didnt come with any hardware. I just bought a set of caliper mounting pins and I assume thats all thats required...

The red caliper is actually one i rebuilt. It was pretty easy. Just use compressed air to force the pistons out. I just used a blow gun with a rubber tip and forced it in the hole. Put a block of wood in the caliper to stop the pistons from coming out all the way, then remove by hand.

Hardest part is putting the boots on. There is a trick to them and you need to put the boots inside out in the caliper first and then slide the piston in. You'll see when you go do it.

All you need is the pin to mount it to the bracket. The pads hold it in place. For hardware, just a pin, washer and e-clip. You want the hardware opposite the bleed screwss. So if the screws is pointing up, you want the hardware down near the ground.

Thanks again!! I got it all figured out last night, pretty simple the way they are attached. I ordered the seal kit from Napa today and am going to rebuild the calipers this weekend...
