So I'm pulling the K to start on the engine bay body work. Anyone have any ideas on fabbing up some type of casters up front so I can still move the car in and out of the garage?
The entire car (86 notch) is stripped out except for the rear end. I thought I saw a picture somewhere where 4x4's were used up front with casters. I know that sounds a bit red neck, but the car doesn't weigh much now. I cant weld so thats out. Thoughts?

Well when I had the rear end out and the jackstands placed just right (a leverage thing) I could pick it up!
Idk the weight for sure but its light. If I was done with using this caster I would just sell it to you, but its gonna be at least a couple more weeks before my tube front end is under it.

i bolted some "unistrut" to the bumper mounts in an h pattern and got some "l" brackets for the bottom to bolt the casters too....worked good enough to roll it up and off the trailer a few times. unistrut is like perforated c channel that plumbers and electricians use to hang pipes with. any supply house should have

Here is what I ended up doing. I used the trailer jack off my fathers boat trailer. I'm remaking the lower radiator support so hacking it was no problem. For the rear I dropped the axle and have a furniture dolly.

I went redneck and went to harbor freight and bought the car rollers that you place the tires on. Then bolted some 2x10x20 on to them. On top of that a standard jackstand. Bolted down with 2 U-bolts per stand.
When I was done I just unbolted everything. |
