Clunk when turning sharp in either direction

I have a 2014 GT, 49,xxx miles and I've had it since April of 2016. Every once in awhile when I turn the wheel to full lock something in the front in clunks and pops. Now it is not subtle at all, its pretty loud. It happens mostly when it sits for a bit and i go somewhere. I searched for anyone else having the same issue but haven't seen anything with my exact problem.

Has anyone here had this issue?

aftermarket springs? if a spring is out of alignment in it's saddle, it'll pop in/out of place when steering/suspension geometry is varying. My volvo does the same thing after I threw new stuff in it. lol

Possible ball joint. I had a Mustang that when I turn the wheel it would make a loud poping sound. Turned out to be the lower ball joint.

1983 GT sold.

1988 coupe. Build in progress. All forged 408w. 13:1 on e85.

At that mileage, the infamous upper strut bearings could be the culprit. They tend to fall apart with simple disassembly. Pretty straightforward fix, with a spring compressor.

Suspension is 100% stock, I'm out of the country at the moment but I do have plans for suspension upgrades when I return so hopefully that'll fix it. I will post the results.
