Didn't realize they tore down a completed motor to build an aluminator.

So what is difference in pistons from a 13 GT? I thought the 13s came with the pistons from the Boss, I thought those were Mahle?

HEY OP!!!

The video shows a cold test of the motor. My N/A aluminator was run with gasoline. There was a lot of carbon in the headers. Any idea why???

I believe the stock 2011-2014 Mustang GT 5.0L Ti-VCT engine runs a Mahle Hyperutectic (SP?) piston. The Aluminator piston is a forged unit from Mahle.

cant explain why there are traces of carbon in your Aluminators headers.

So is FRPPCoyoteFox just your user name, or do you work for Ford Racing?

I don't work for ford, but since the motors are torn down assembly line motors, then yours was probably part of a batch test prior to arriving at ford racing.

Pistons in the GT remain cast aluminum despite the early magazine reports.

Some of the early engines were tested at Ford briefly before they were torn down and re-assembled into the Aluminator versions. Consider yours to have been 'hot' AND 'cold' tested - double verification!

All the base 5.0L GT pistons are cast (hypereutectic) - that's why they are replaced with the Mahle forgings in the Aluminator version.

Batch test would make sense, idk about it being an early one, got it in January.

Early Motor Trend magazine write ups is where I had heard the 13s had forged pistons.

Thanks to both of you.
