S197 Weight Reduction

I haven't seen a list started for the S197 cars and thought some of you may have some parts laying around or have the weights for some already. This was done a while back for the SN95 cars here.

Official Weight Removal Thread

I keep and upated list on my site with all the weights and wanted to add S197 specific parts to that list so if any of you have weights for some of your parts post them up here. I have a few stock parts from my sisters 05 I can weigh this weekend. Also please only post items that have been weighed not "it feels like it's about 10lbs".

Great idea Bill!

I may be replacing a few parts on my '06 soon. Hell, I may even unbolt a few things just to give you some #s.

Maybe a few members who work in a body shop can give you numbers for entire assemblies such as doors, trunks, hoods, fenders, etc...?

That would be perfect. That's pretty much how I built on the lists above for the earlier models cars. When I did my Longtube/K-member install I'd weight any parts I had to remove, etc... I know from my sisters 05 I have a stock exhaust and airbox assembly in the attic I can weigh. Most of us know what to do to reduce weight on the car but I find it helpful to have some good numbers so you can look at the weight reduction and decide if it's worth it. Not just assume a tubular K-member drops 100lbs because it looks heavy.

PART QNTY WEIGHT
GT500 LCA 2 6.5lbs
05 GT LCA 2 6.5lbs
GT non-pwr pass seat 1 48lbs
Rear seat back and top 1 20lbs
BMR Radiator support 1 5.5lbs
BBR radiator support 1 3.75lbs
Stock driveshaft w/support 1 38.5lbs
Custom aluminum driveshaft 1 17.5lbs
05 GT stock hood 1 25lbs
18" Fanblade wheels/tires 4 54lbs
18" Bullitt wheels/tires 4 58lbs
