Ford GT Specs Finally Released, Supercar Barges Into Ferrari Territory
The performance specifications for the new 2017 Ford GT supercar have finally been confirmed after what seems like ages of being left in the dark.
The twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 found in the Ford GT produces an SAE-certified 647 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque, with 90 percent of peak torque available from 3,500 rpm. Linked to a seven-speed Getrag dual-clutch automatic transmission, the American supercar will top out at 216 mph, certifying it as the fastest production Ford ever.
Additionally, the GT’s dry weight has been verified at 3,054 lbs, making it heavier than the McLaren 675 LT and Ferrari
488 GTB, which tip the scales at 2,927 lbs and 3,020 lbs dry, respectively. Ford places its power-to-weight ratio at 4.72 lbs/horsepower.
